Dymag Carbon/Magnesium wheel

Has anyone any experience or feedback regarding this wheel from Dymag? I tried finding out how much it costs and who sells them but no response.

I wouldn't run a set for normal street use .. carbon is prone to shattering when a significant amount of pressure is invovled.

I've got some on order from Bill at Rennwork. I plan on running them for normal street use, as they actually deform a good bit and rebound rather than shattering. I think one or two high-end sports car manufacturers have even started delivering their cars with them for street applications, so presumably their engineers and attorneys signed off on them for daily use.

I'll post pics and initial impressions in a few weeks when I get them in.

And unfortunately, the cost is more like 8-9k depending on size and style.

Considering the carbon is a fabric the part to worry about is the resin used. It is possible of course to get flex out of a composite however it can shatter under some conditions.

With a carbon rim attached to a magnesium center I dont see 'that' immediate of a danger if a huge pot hole is hit and a small section shatters as the rim will remain in tact enough to keep the tire on the wheel to slow down.

Of course at anything more than 60mph I would be a little more worried about it.

IMO for the street this is overkill as the performance benefits wont be noticed unlike at the track..but we all know that. But still for those who want them 'just because' I would not be too put off by worst case scenario internet posts. The company is a well respected one, one shattered wheel would bring a lot of negative news. Im sure they have thought about that already. But then again crazier things have happened!
