dr sharp-you are correct, and i totally agree with you. all that guy seems to do is come on here and talk on the threads that compare the turbo to the vette. we all know how fast the new turbo is, but some people dont want to acknowledge that a car that is much heavier and has less hp is that fast. the turbo is a monster, and thats that.

I know that it is fast, never said it wasn't. It just not as fast as the Z06. A 997 TT doesnt trap 125+. A 997 TT doesn't run to 150 in 17.5 secs. It is a very fast car, I know this. I am a car enthusiast and I know a lot about cars and how fast they are, and I know that the 997 TT is NOT as fast/quick as the Z06, period.

Take a look at the video of the Kellener M5 vs. the 997 TT, they were practically dead even. Now go watch the video of the Kellener M5 vs the Z06 while the Z06 started out in the wrong gear. Now, tell me which car is quicker.

If there is anyone with a stock 997 TT in MI, we can race and capture it on video. I will be waiting for a PM or a response.

And the Gallardo is one of the sexiest cars on the road, I agree.

Thanks Master.

To be honest, I'm surprised anyone would question the video. I thought it was common knowledge that Gallardos aren't all that fast (no disrespect intended to Gallardo owners).

The 997TT runs about 18.5 sec 0-150. this car weighs a good 400 lbs more than a z06 and has AWD and 25 hp less and still can beat it up to 120 mph and in the 1/4 mile. u strap on a giac chip and exhaust only, and its going to crush a z06. also, the z06s hp is quite understated, many say, even friends of mine who love them, that its pushing more around 530-550 hp, putting it as a 50-70 hp advantage over a turbo. you know what though, the 997TT is FASTER to 186 mph too!

One more thing. they tested a while back the 997TT and the z06 on the same day, same track, same conditions, same driver, and guess what, both ran 11.7@121. no 125+ trap speed there. and yet again, the turbo was not broken in.

And the Gallardo is one of the sexiest cars on the road, I agree.
Another thing you fail to see is that the turbos that are being tested ARE NOT BROKEN IN! they just ran a manual vs tip contest. the manual NOT BROKEN IN ran 11.7@121. the tip NOT BROKEN IN ran 11.6@122. broken is, im SURE these cars will be running 124-125 mph and then what are you going to say. wait for someone to break it in and then see. i think if you look at masterlus posts, he has a broken is turbo, and he says it runs away from both a gallardo SE(very fast) and an f430(very fast as well). so i think you should try to race him and then well see what happens.

Thank you for proving my point. I don't know where you are from, but where I am from, 17.5< 18.5..

And again, the Z06 has trapped higher than that. You did well proving that my point, and that the Z06 is faster, thanks..

i have also seen IIRC the z06 running high 18s 0-150. one fluke test doesnt mean this is the case all the time.

As PorscheC4 stated, the 997TT was faster to 300kph. Please stop your useless debating. There is more to a car than e/t and trap speed

One fluke? Let see here...

Test #1, 0-150 in 17.5 secs:
http://http://www.caranddriver.com/r...z06-page4.html

Test #2, 0-150 in 17.7 secs:
http://http://www.fast-autos.net/for...ad.php?p=50410

Test #3, 0-150 in 17.9 secs (8th paragraph):
http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...per-srt10.html

Ya, all these three tests must be flukes.

You know, to be passionate about your car is one thing, but to be blinded by passion is another thing. Whoever thinks that a 997 TT can out accelerate a C6 Z06, stock vs. stock, is just blinded by their passion for Porsche and is kidding themselves, period.

It was stated in the article that they tested the cars in wet conditions (That was also clear from the vids/pics). While all the cars will be affected by this, obviously a rwd 500+ hp car will be more effected than a 480 bhp AWD car.

Also, I am not gonna be racing to 186 mph anytime soon. I live in the US, not Germany. And, lets say I did race to 186 mph and the TT was ahead (Which it wouldn't be), then I might as well race to top speed where I will surpass the Porsche when it tops out at 193 mph while I keep on going to near 200. So, in the end, no matter how you look at it, the Z06 is the faster car..

This is getting ridiculous already, its useless to still argue about this, Z06 is quicker than the 997TT, by alot? NO, and that's a major accomplishment for a awd heavier car with less power, but hey, both are IMPRESSIVE!

Then the vette is perfect for you as you will never admit to a loss because your car isn't stable enough at high speeds to continue accelerating past 150

BTW, I believe I read somewhere on these forums that the 997TT is not drag limited but rather governed at its max speed. Can anyone confirm this?
