What about the fun factor!
Went to Fla. this weekend,to Braman Porsche and traded my 07 997TT tip for an 07 997TT 6 speed. I love the turbo but with a tip it just did nothing for me. Put on 200 miles with the 6-speed and was in love. The car is everything they say it is an the most important thing it was fun to drive. Next month I will send it to Orbit racing and put in a GIAC program and exhaust.Buying the tip was my fault. I should know better not to listen to a salesperson.I took a gamble and fortunately the dealer was kind to me and gave me back all my money less 2G. Told me tips were in greater demand than 6 speeds so it would not be a problem to sell the car.
Tips may be in demand, but it about 3-4 years when used ones start to surface, the dealers will be marking up the manuals (as with the current 996TTs). I'll take the 6MT without radio and loudass exhaust.

He said there was a high demand for them? I personally would not order one but to each his/her own. I did a search on Edmunds yesterday for 997 07 Turbos for sale in the US (both new and used) and I got back 61, mostly 6spds?

JUST like an SL 55, it needs a tip. 6 speeds are for sports cars. Porsche still makes one.

6 speeds rule, the tip is/was a bridge to the pdk, that's all. A few yrs ago('03) they couldn't give away a TT with a tip, now they market it as faster than a 6 and everbody and his sister has to have one. The pdk will be interesting, but just as numb as a tip in the long run. I wonder what used tips will be going for in a couple of yrs after the pdk is out?

And the GT3 is what?
I guess everyone is entitled to their own opnion.
My dealer offered me the first GT3 and I didn't wna tit since I sld my last one after 400 miles. My friend bought a 997 GT3 and kept it for 1000 miles ( 1 week) and sold it. (No, he did not flip the car to make money. He sold it back to the dealer for what he paid for it.)
So I guess some people love the GT3 and some couldn't care less. I am of the latter group.

Tip is the most desirable resale version of 997 in the UK. Cant get enough of them. I think it may be as the car is much more expensive here it is an older customer base who prefer the Tip particulariliy as most cars are driven around cities.
6speeds are in the minority. People who chose 6speed buy the GT3 or GT2 rather than the turbo. I notice in the states the car is so much cheaper the buyers are much younger too.
You could not sell a 996tt with 6speed and even worse if it came without satnav! Strange how things vary place to place.
