Opinions- 997TT or 360 and 996TT
I test drove a 996TT w/ X50 package and was not that impressed. The Porsche saleman kept telling he was glad I was driving the Porsche first because it would be a no brainer compairing the two. Stepped into the 360 and the car was singing form 1000rpm all the way to 8500rpm. Ferrari driving experience is unmatched. Pure exhileration and excitement.
I ended up buying that same 360.

I think the last posts have really helped me make my decision. I will keep the TT, mod it a little more, and drive it-including some track events. I think I need to experience an F car, either 360 or 430. So I will bail on the 997 TT for now, get an exhaust on the 996TT, which with the ECU mod, will take it to stage II I guess, and just enjoy life.
Scott, Not to repeat myself, but I think you should just keep the 996TT and mod it up a bit. All of my previous turbos(all 4) have been bone stock and I have driven a few modded TT's. There is a BIG difference with the Porsche when you wake it up even more.
But as far as the Ferrari goes: You will see that when you drive one you will not be looking to put the hammer down so much. Just driving that car and looking at the peoples reactions when they see it is enough to love it. You will also notice that in the Ferrari you never turn on the radio. Going under bridges and tunnels is a blast and the car on the road is so surefooted. I have had every Porsche I owned up to 180 or better and all I can say is that at 180 the Ferrari felt MUCH better.
Speed aside Scott. Where the hell can you do speeds like that without either being killed or arrested? How many offramps can you do on two wheels before you wipe out or are arrested again?? Its NOT about the speed with the Ferrari. Drive either a 360 or a 430 and you will be hooked..

I agree with you monsoon. This discussion has helped me figure this out. Now, for an exhaust on the 996TT, I am thinking Fabspeed moderate. Any resonance or drone with this system? Also need new rubber on the car- it came with Pzeros, but they seem loud. What's a better choice?

To me the 997TT isn't worth close to the $70k price difference to upgrade to it from a 996TT.

And then theres the fact that whenever I saw a Ferrari (360 or 430) on the road, I couldnt get my eyes off it. Yes, the TT's are a little faster than the F cars; But when you drive a Ferrari you will know what I am talking about..
Look at it this way: Those guys that ride those Ninjas and sportbikes are into serious speed. Those bikes do everything right and will pretty much run forever. But theres something about a Harley that feels different from everything else..
Scott, get a 360 and you will be driving around with a big smile on your face and you will look and feel like a moviestar..
Ferrari 360 all the way!!!!! OK, I just got my 1999 360 Modena 3 months ago for a little over $100k. It has 26k miles, 6 speed manual, fresh 30k service, tubi, and I bought it from a Ferrari Dealer. I also have a 993 C2S as my daily and looking to upgrade into a 996TT my 993 is not fast enough anymore.
Anyways, you wont believe how much attention this car gets, doesn't hurt that my 360 is Yellow. Regarding how fast it is, seriously, how much faster do you want to go as most of the time you only use 4 gears. I much rather let someone else take the new car depreciation hit. Also, most people can't tell the difference between the 360 and 430 as they are both the latest modern shapes from Ferrari. I also have to say, there is more demand for the 360/430 than the 550/575 just by going thru the threads on that other ferrari chat site even though the 550/575 is more rare.
Lastly, clanking thru the gears revving to 8400 rpm, the sound is priceless (tunnels and bridges require windows down, putting in neutral and listening to pure music to your ears)--I had a chance to drive under the Daytona 500 track thru those awesome tunnels!!!
