FYI - this is from the long-term wrap of the 997S in Autoweek:
“With my 911 S, I now understand why guys who can afford to spend $30,000 more than the cost of a Corvette for roughly the same performance do so,†said one former C5 Corvette owner. “Rides at speeds that are white-knuckle affairs in the Corvette are casual, one-hand-on-the-wheel events in the 911.â€

Let's try this: Instead of saying Corvette or 'Vette, we'll say "Corv". Instead of saying Mustang or 'Stang, we'll say "Must". That is about how stupid it sounds to say "Porsh"... And NEVER let a German person hear you call it a "Porsh" (ESPECIALLY as an owner) if you want to have any credibility.
It is not an ego thing, it's a proper pronunciation thing.

In fact I rarely have heard Por-sha said by anyone other than commercials. I dont think it's a big deal but understand your point.

So when people call me Dave and not David I should correct them and say MY NAME IS DAV-ID not dave?
Porsch' is the shorter way to say it. I use porscha' and porsch' it just depends on the context of the sentance.
Just because someone says porsch' that doesnt mean they think thats how its pronnounced.
And if the way I say the car's name in a sentance discounts my credibility in a group.... count me out.
edit: not to mention you just agreed with me in the statement of stang' and vette'. To me Porsch' is the same type of abbreviation. I just dont get why people get in a hissy fit about it.
edit2: I just read your vette' stang' statement again and you contradict yourself. saying one syllable instead of two is LAZY? The reason people say vette or stang is this EXACT reason. Same with Lambo instead of Lamborghini.
Why would you say Corv or Must?? You say vette, stang, porsch, because people know what your talking about.

The words "Vette" "Stang" and "Lambo" are obvious nicknames for those cars. There is nothing open to interpretation. Now, if you pronounced the entire word as "Carvette" or "Corvitte" "LambArginny" that is butchering the name of the car. Much like saying "Porsch" instead of "Porschaa". Since when is Porsch a "nickname" for Porsche? For godsake, it's one less letter to pronounce. It's a mispronounciation. Nothing more, nothing less.
