For my DD, it used to be 745Li now E550. For my winter DD, the primo SUV of course (RR HSE)-drove the CTT (felt too small for the $$$).

GL- the fun is in the hunt!

It's ugly, but if you don't like Benzes, 6-speed M5 makes the most sense.

Just get a Cayenne S and be done with it. You seriously need a SUV!

I would go with the X5 4.8! Very reliable, fast, actually handles really well. It's big enough to carry everything in it. It's great for when you need to have business associates in the car. In the winter it's great, has 4 wheel drive. Heated mirrors, heated Steering wheel, heated seats. I believe the new one also has a heated windshield. You can't forget about the service, everything is free, you could rip the dorr handle off, and say it fell, no cost. Plus it's nice to be high up sometimes. I would go with the X5 all the way!

I'm a Bimmer guy so my vote goes to the M5 with the 335 as a close 2nd. An M5 with a working transmission (yes they do exist. I think...) is the best car in the world that can seat 4/5 people. Period.

The 335 has a fantastic tuneable engine but isn't as exciting do drive or look at as the M5. It is a fair bit cheaper though.

3rd place goes to the CLS just becaues it's so da*n pretty.

The S6 was a good suggestion - more backseat room than the RS4, V10 cred, etc.

With a 997TT in your stable, why do you need another performance car? After spending time in my not so comfortable 997S, I like the cushy ride of my ML. Plus, it's great for hauling stuff and driving up to the mountains. I'd recommend the X5, ML, or Cayenne.

The new ML models are getting good reviews, the Audi Q7 has a nice V8 and lots of room but may be a bit above your budget range. Two not mentioned yet but worth considering: The VW Touareg V10 TDI, this diesel has tons of performance and all the lux features at a price under $70k; and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, great performance and handling for a reasonable price but the interior is a bit cramped.

Update:- thanks all for your advice - I realized I am a Bimmer guy at heart too - so, I've taken tomorrow off - will be driving the X5 and 335 - drove a few E60 M5's so I know what to expect...the 6spd M5 is a tad bit out of my price range - played around at BMW's website - I'll probably do a black with the terra interior...will look sweet on the 335 or 4.8...

Depending on how many clients you need to haul around, the 335 may be a bit small. My work associate has one. Its damn nice but too small for anybody near 6'0" tall to sit comfortably in the back. The X5 is awesome. My wife has one who also has to haul clients and take fellow work associates out on joint client calls. Works perfectly and is not too big like a Tahoe. I would give consideration to the Range Rover Sport as well. All of your options are good. Some just a bit more practical than others.
