How to force a 1st gear start with Tip.

I'm thinking about taking the TT to the drag strip. I like how it shifts in D mode, it choses better shift point than me.

Of course we want a 1st gear start. If you are in sport mode and drive agressively it drops to 1st on stopping. If not driving agressively, even in sport mode, is stays in 2nd. At the strip with no prior agressive driving it will stay in second. Holding the brakes and giving it gas in 2nd doesn't cause a downshift.

You can toggle it to first in M mode, but on going back to D it returns to second.

How can I be in D mode and Sport mode and force a 1st gear start. Thanks

I believe that the best way to get fast times out of a tip TT, is to hold the brake and give it some throttle, until your boost meter lights up. There is a display in the instrument cluster that will tell you when this happens. Unfortunately there is no way to time that with a light at a dragstrip. I imagine that by doing that the car will launch in 1st. Give it a try.

I'd think you could start in first with manual mode than immediatly put the car in auto once you're going. By that time you should be about to get out of first, where you said the auto would be preferred.

I remember seeing something about it in the manual...but since I have a manual tranny I glossed over it...suggest you look it up. If I get the chance later today I'll look it up for you.

I think this should be the best way also. Unless you can have the dealer reprogram the tip software(if even possible).
