Stock Boost Gauge.. What kind of PSI are you seeing?

Ran a search. Not much out there... I am trying to get a feeling of what kind of boost numbers you are all seeing on the stock measurement gauge in sport mode under full throttle in any gear. The reason I ask, is I have just gone from a 997TT non-sport chrono car to a new 997TT with sport chrono and LSD. My first car had a lot of pull and saw 14psi all the time which from what I am to understand is the max boost on a non-sport chrono car. The car also felt much faster. Can't explain it, but it felt less stable as it had a lot more boost of acceleration... My new car seems to be more civilized and planted, and I can only attribute to the fact that it does not seem to have as much boost as the last car, or that this car has LSD... Under full throttle in any gear, I do not see anything higher than 13-14 psi in sport mode...

Please do not get me wrong... Love the car, just trying to get a gauge, no pun intended, as to why this car does not feel as much as a hot-rod as my last car... It is definitely fast... The boost just feels distributed more smoothly... I hope this makes sense...

Any input or would be appreciated....

This is a long shot, but the time frame in which you drove the other car, was it colder than it is now? You have to remember that when the air is colder is it quite denser, and denser air equals more power. Up here in NJ where raclaims and I are from the temperature fluctuates quite a bit, so in the winter a car will feel like a million bucks, and then at the hint of 60-70+ degree weather the car feels like it falls flat on its face.

Also another very simple explanation is that you're just getting used to the power, don't feel bad, it happens to EVERYONE. There was a time a few years ago where if a car had 300-400whp I would be in complete shock and awe. Over the weekend I just got a ride in a 700rwhp BMW and it didn't even impress me.

I'm sure theres nothing wrong with your car but just you adapting to it or the fluctuation in temperature.

Thank you for the replies... First car purchased in May. This one 3 weeks ago... Temps have pretty much been the same... The only other thing I can attribute it too, is that the suspension on this car seems to be much stiffer than the last. The new car does not lift as much as the last one under hard acceleration, whether PASM was on or off... As stated this car seems to be more planted, and can attribute to the non hotrod feeling...

Again. Thanks for the feedback...

You aren't bald...

Your car is quick no doubt, I just need to convince you to do the AWE package.

Well the ZO6 with mods couldn't take me (as you saw first hand)...my only issue with power upgrades (and the dealer has one that they will warranty by the way)...is I am afraid of how it will affect the normal driving around town feel. The car is perfect now and I don't want something jumpy. However it could use more low end punch.

Sorry for the hijack dlr218

I constantly see .9-1.0 bar without sport mode and 1.1-1.2 with sport mode. I think in PSI it is 15-18 PSI.

Yes, I see 1.1-1.2 breifly in sport mode also. You must really slap the pedal to the floor to engage overboost, a less severe push is not enough.

Does the little "overboost" arrow light up in the gauges when you're in "sport" mode?

Yes it does and it only comes up when you step on the throttle not rolling on it.
