Many good points made. I too recieved a 5K discount on my 07 June 27th Build. I could have held out for an 08 and waited but I wanted it sooner rather than later and I am happy with my decision. I don't flip cars and those who do are taking losses just in the taxes alone. But hey to each their own. If you have it and can afford to loss the initial taxes and a couple of grand while only putting 1-3K miles on it. Go for it

I would not have pulled the trigger like gradyex if I didn't get the deal that I wanted in my mind. I had a chance to buy two well eqiupped Turbo's not in my first color choices for a pretty good savings because I don't pay sales tax on private vehicles and they were also reducing it down 8K from MSRP. But I decided that if I am spending in this price range I am going to get exactly what I want or as close to it.

I would not pay 10K less for the one on ebay since its so far from what I would want. I would not be happy with it.

My .02 cents. Where can I spend .02 cents nowadays?

My dealer uses eBay as a sort of free advertising. You only have to pay eBay if you sell a car right?

Once you list a car on ebay, you pay for the fee. It's not like a regular auction listing fee. It's a straight fee.

why not get it and then take it off.

This proves it must have been a pre order but seems like it can still be changed.

The 2008 models are coming so yes there might be a small courtesy discount, but the turbo's are not soft. It's funny, since you seem to be excited about the Turbo getting soft. Any model getting soft wouldn't be good for your favorite brand. It's better for everyone that the cars stay strong in the market.
This will have a positive effect on the car you might want to trade in the future.
Why is it that people are upset that they have to pay full sticker for a car?
It simply means that they are buying a car that is desirable.
A car is desirable for a limited period of time , esp a Porsche Turbo that will be mass produced in exotic car terms. So it will drop in value . Only people with 8 figures networth and more really dont care about paying full price.

Sure its good for Porsche , but i dont think Porsche is organized as a Kibutz.

Unhappy

Wow, if its optioned right thats a steal! Lowest price for a 997 TT to date. Not good for resale values but it was only a matter of time. Your playing your cards right.

If the car is 2 months away I would think it can be changed but Porsche might frown on the dealer for constantly making changes? I was able to change my options on the exterior color sooner than 8 weeks. If I remember it correctly I was about 4 weeks before production start date but Porsche did not allow any more and "locked" it (according to my sales rep)? Who really knows? The slot I got was a car already optioned out and spoken for. The customer backed out and before leaving my deposit I made sure I could change the cars specs and have it accepted by Porsche. They did but 1 week after that I changed colors again and added 2 more options before they pulled the plug on me.

The 498 (delete model designation) is usually combined with option CUC (painted model designation rear lid) - I don't think I've ever seen 498 without CUC.

Dealer BS about owning something desirable is not worth the space he took up writing it. I called up lots of "dealers" through the US when I was trying to sell mine and NOBODY was better than 10K under MSRP. Save the line of crap for rookie buyers. I got 5K off my Jan 07 build, its closer to 10K right now.

Actually my Submariner (steel/gold) is the only thing that has appreciated in its 18 years of ownership...

I "ordered" (put my name on a list) my 997 TT on 3/5/05. Received it on 8/29/06 and paid sticker of $144,583.00. I added Sirius for another $1600.00. I had it on AutoTrader for $143,000.00, thinking I would get $140,000.00. I never received an offer and ended up selling it to a broker for $131,000.00 in November 2006.
