I finally pulled the trigger!

After seeing this beautiful pic:

I decided upon Cobalt. I was going to order Atlas, but making it a "special paint" and seeing the above pic made me choose cobalt after a lifetime of silver and black cars...

I somehow also got a August 2007 completion date from my dealer, although I'm a bit confused on how the car will be completed on August 28th (date from the PCNA computer) if the factory is on summer vacation. Also got a discount!

Ordered options (please critique)

Cobalt blue
Natural gray
Heated front seats
Adapative sport seats
Rear diff
Sport chrono
Headlight cover exterior color
Standard rocker painted
Sport shifter
Leather sun visors
Thicker steering wheel
Rear console painted
Storage compartment with logo
Door finishers painted
DAJ-Exterior package painted

Thanks to all who have taken the time to post pics. It certainly is helpful in trying to make decisions!

That looks great! I'm sure it will be awesome. If you're going with the leather sun visors you may want to consider the leather dome lamp cover.

The painted rear console is a pretty big statement so i'm sure that is what you like and want. Personally, I would prefer leather or carbon but that's what's great about building a porsche

Yeah...I hear you...I currently have the leather covered rear console option on my 997S and I love the elegance.

But, I figured after a lifetime of more "elegant" looking cars, I'd get a more outlandish looking one...

Atlas is a fantastic color.

Yeah...it's a 2008...and, unfortunately, at the 2008 increased price...

The discount is purely due to being in the midwest as opposed to Cali...

Congratulations!!!
I LOVE that color. Good on you for pulling the trigger!

Was the choice of your second P-car as challenging as the first? I've given myself a one month dead line, and I'm still up in the air! S, 4s, pre-owned GT3, Turbo?

I hope you enjoyed the process and it will be nice to see the pics when you get the car!

Beautiful car Al! That is gonna be awesome, and I love Cobalt. Plus, of course, it's a family car. Rear seats for the kids. Very practical . . .

Beautiful!

Would you consider the multifunction steering wheel? It works pretty good.

Great choice on the Cobalt. I wonder if DAJ is too much though. I think this includes the front grill painted. I chose front/back spoiler and side rockers painted but not the grill. I want to keep that black. Congrats!

Did you get option CDZ - gear shift trim in leather. You definitely should! It ties the rear center console leather to the center console and completes the look.

I would really advise you to reconsider getting DAJ and going with having the front lip, side sills and rear lip painted instead. It's a bit overpowering with the front grille painted. Of course that's IMHO. You definitely can't go wrong with a stunner like Cobalt blue!

The deepest recesses of my heart said GT3 .

But, as somewhat lame as this sounds, I need the rear seats for my kids. Plus, nothing makes me smile as much as when my kid goes "Let's drive the Porsssccchhhaaaa!" Of course, with the small exception when we returned one day and my 5 year old exclaimed to mommy: "Dad's car is like a roller coaster!" If looks could kill...

Thus....Turbo.

However, if you don't need the rear seats....definitely GT3 with RWD instead of this slightly soul killing AWD of the Turbo and the 4S. Personally, I'd rather keep my C2S even in the Chicago winters rather than a 4S...even with the wide body difference.

Pleading reason #6 that finally broke the wife down...

Of course, I'm kinda pissed that I won't be getting Euro delivery. Just too difficult to get away for more than 1 week...

Thanks Jamie. I currently have the multifunction wheel on my C2S. I agree it's pretty useful especially with the phone module and muting the radio/CD.

But, I'm kinda fed up with the tri-band GSM implementation that Porsche has. Cingular and T-Mobile just don't have great tri-band service in Chicagoland. So, I'm not getting the phone module again. I'll just use my Bluetooth headset with my Verizon phone. Why oh why doesn't Porsche have a Bluetooth solution? Even Aston Martin has Bluetooth...Grrrr....

Love your username leadfoot.

I have a hardtime imagining the difference between the painted grill and a black grill with cobalt. Maybe it is too much...but, it's a last fling with a bright, in your face color for this aged 40 year old...

Thanks for all your pics Atomic. It's the hours of staring at your beautiful pics that finally persuaded me to get cobalt over another GT silver, black, or grey car.

I ended up ordering a painted center console rather than leather covered (which I currently have in my C2S)...thus I think I will hold off on CDZ...but, thanks for the suggestion!

Plus, thanks for the pics of the painted grill....hmmm....may need to rethink it a bit...

I'm glad to have been able to help out with that! I'm attaching a few pictures to show you exactly what CDZ is. The section circled in red shows the stitched portion that would otherwise be plastic if you didn't get CDZ.

A view from a bit further away showing the overall effect.
