We're doing a couple of 997TTs this week with that set up and since you're local you're most welcome to come and check them out.
Hey Sharky,
Count me in as well when you have a car to check out - the stock handling is good, but I'm always game for something which is a significant improvement and doesn't compromise ride.

Hey Ben, depending upon your schedule we have one from Mon-thru-Saturday with the suspension (it's on the lift now), one coming in on Friday for an install as well so let me know when you can come in

hey ben, so whadda you think? Also, next week we'll be adding the sway bar kit to one of the current PASM kit cars so I'll show you as and when. My hope is that it settles that rear end down some more and also smoothens the transitions. Oh and gets rid of the understeer!

It's a clear improvement on stock. The car moves around a lot less than the stocker. I suspect on fast sweepers the difference will be particularly dramatic.

Why Porsche didn't set up the stock 997 more like this suspension is a mystery to me

Good to see you as always and you're right. It should have been close to that set up. I know that what Porsche took a real panning on with the 996TT was the understeer so I guess they tried to eliminate that and to a degree they did. What they also got was a very floaty/jumpy rear end tho

PS I was thinking that the first time I really met you was in 02 at Sacramento raceway and you were drag racing the X5 and I was in the black TT. Funny that we should meet at a drag strip

Does a suspension upgrade change the lateral skidpad? If so, by how much??

Alex, you hit the nail right on the head. In the near future I might be looking at upgrading this suspension because the car floats too much for my taste. The handling is good stock but if you start to push it a bit it can be a handfull. At first I thought I needed an alignment as the car was off a bit from the factory. When I drove the car after the first attempt I wasn't satisfied so I had them re-test it (adding a little more toe in the rear). Now the car tracks perfectly but the suspension doesn't feel as direct as my 997S and the car floats around more than I expected. That "squirmy" or "floaty" feel keeps you on your toes thats for sure! Keep us posted on any aftermarket suspension packages that will improve this. I am not even thinking about adding more HP until I'm satisfied with some improvement in this department. Getting rid of the Bridgestones down the line for Michelin PS2 can't hurt either. At least I am not the only one complaining about this. Once this gets taken care of the 997 Turbo will be much more planted and a lot more predictable.

Hey Gradyex, I wish I was wrong on this but the car doesn't inspire me with confidence in stock form when it comes to the twisties that's for sure I mean when you want to push things that is. I don't like the way you turn/plant the front end in a turn and then the rear starts to wallow/float and bounce around the turn behind you. Feels very iffy to me. The tech art coil overs seems to really combat a lot of the problems head on. All 8 folkts thus far seem to love it and feel a lot more confident in the turns. The ride is also a lot more compliant in both settings (using progressive springs obviously helps). Couple that with the sway bars and I'm hoping we can really turn things around.
