Brake Pedal Pressure
Brake Pedal Pressure
After some spirited driving yesterday, I lost a ton of pressure on the brake pedal. It went almost all the way to the floor, then back to normal after 2 or 3 pumps. This lasted for about 5 minutes before returning to normal, each stop required multiple pumps. Has anyone else experienced this? There were no warning lights. I have PCCB's, FYI. And, no fliuds visible on the garage floor this morning where it sat overnight after this experience.
Vincy seems to be having the same issue. Mine became "soft" after some spirited driving once and I spoke to my service manager about that. He thinks that it's probably because I overheated my brake fluids and recommended that I flush things out with a new set because apparently once that happens, the chemical properties start breaking down. I'm considering doing that but going with brake fluid with a higher boiling point. Maybe Motul 600?
ATE super blue is awesome for track time. For both of you I would reccommend a fluid change with something for motorsports use. However with the Motul 600 or ATE you will have to change the fluid on a much more frequent basis. This stuff absorbs water and doesnt maintain its high boiling point properties for much more than a year. And of course before any track day do a full bleed.
I have the same problem.
My pedal is soft too. It can drop on hard stops then pump up again. I just don't understand it, it used to feel better than this. The dealer replaced the master cylinder and the abs module, and bled the sysytem the special way to flush out the abs. The dealer says its better than when it came in, but it feels the same to me.
I didn't want to take the car but the dealer suggested I test the pedal on a new TT, when stopped it was exactly the same, with pressure the pedal sinks to the floor till about 2 inches off the floor. Its hard to argue that its broke when a new one acts the same way. I'm wondering if Porsche changed the master cylinder design in later models.
