I hope this isn't serious...
had my car in last week for what the dealer said was a simple CEL. The work order said: "found code for low efficiency on down stream O2 sensors - cleared codes and reset engine adaptions".
Drove it a few times since and all seemed fine. Drove it today and everything was OK. It was still in my driveway so I just went out to put it in the garage. It's late here so I figured it would be a nice time to go for a quick drive as it's the only time traffic is manageable. Pulled to the end of my block and stopped waiting to pull out of my development. All of a sudden I felt the car shake a bit, like it wanted to stall. A very un-even idle. Made a u-turn to go back home and the CEL came on - this time though it was flashing, which I know is not a good sign (last week it was solid). Car was very jerky and hesitating pretty badly.
only mods are a fabspeed exhaust. Any ideas? I feel sick

)I hope it's not serious. I could only imagine how you're feeling... Hopefully someone can chime in and offer some insight... good luck Chris, and I have my fingers crossed that its nothing.

Chris, Im wondering if this could be the result of the aftermarket cats you have on there. you may want to take a ride to TKX and have them scan the CEL code again to make sure. Best of luck getting fixed!!!
Who installed the exhaust? How long have you had the exhaust? Do you know if it is 100 cell or 200 cell cats? The engine is pretty bullet proof, I am sure it will be a simple fix. Also, running some octane boost is cheap insurance on these cars
Some of the early 997TT FS systems were 100 cell cats, that could be the issue. Very easy to fry the MAF as well, resulting in limp mode/CEL. The turbo is much more sensitive than the NA cars to emissions errors.
Just hung up with the SA and a flat bed is on it's way - I can't drive the car. He's certain it is exhaust/emissions related. So far, they haven't busted my hump about having the exhaust on the car - we'll see if it's anything more serious.
The car has just about 3K miles on it and the exhaust was put on the car with about 600 miles on it. RPM Racing did the install and I'm certain they are 200 cell cats. I will find out today.
(Good to see you here Josh!!)

There is no way an exhaust is going to cause a misfire. The flashing CEL is a misfire in the system, either one cylinder or total count over the 6. Something else is going on. They can tell you it is the exhaust and it is not. That will be their scape goat.

update
Just found a message from the dealership that it was a faulty cam sensor and they are waiting for the part.
I'm assuming this has nothing to do with exhaust/emissions. Is this unusual? A sign of bad things to come?
