997 Turbo - Key Stuck in ignition

My battery died - the clear bra dude came to install at my house and he left key in the ignition. Apparently that drained the battery. Now, the Key is stuck in the ignition and will not come out. In the manual it states that the key will NOT come out unless the electric powers are back up in charge. Well i let the car run, and drove it around for 1 hour and still no luck. Still stuck.

Anyone experience this? I called roadside, they told me to try putting it in 1st and reverse, still stuck.

Try arming the alarm, and then disarming it with the key thats in the ignition.
Happened to me on my Bentley. Worked for me. GL

There is release on the front of the switch. If you look you can see it. You have to push it in and the key will unlock. Once you get it out it will cycle the tumblers and work again.

I am on my blackberry and can't resize the pic I took. There is a black cap around the switch about the 1:00 postion. Pop it off and behind it is a hole the size of a paper clip. Push it in there. And the key will pop out.

Stephen thanks for the feedback. I did pop the cap and see 3 holes. i take it the outter holes are for the cap and the inner one is the release hole. However, it just looks like metal plate. Ther is not button to press. I even twisted all the way left... do you think something else is wrong? I do not see any button or release in the middle hole.

GUYs, this is a technical question, please leave the jokes for off topic. Thanks.

Sorry, stick a paper clip in there or something that will go into the hole and relase it. Like I said it is the same size as a paper clip. Just unbend one and stick it in the center hole.
