Ipod Intergration
Ipod Integration
I'm interested in getting a price on this Denison Unit. (also some idea on how to install). Must the Ipod remain in the trunk? I have a build date for a Turbo Cab of 9/10/07. My dealer has me lined up for installation of another unit @ the dealership. Thanks
We're the primary US distributor for the Dension Gateway unit. Hit our Order page and read the details on the item.
iPod can go in trunk, glove box, storage box or visible, makes no difference. Dealers can install, or indy's with knowledge of fiber optics too. If you're as knowledgeable as Stephen, do it yourself!
Email me anytime with questions.

Dension's newest update is extremely user friendly. After the first load-up, it really takes care of it-self. You can scroll playlists, artists, albums etc... everything you can do with the ipod controls themselves, you can do with the Porsche head-unit. I would suspect any confusion with that box comes prior to their 3rd (most recent i believe) update. Would be interested in hearing what others find with the Dice unit as well though.
WHY would your installer do that ? NAVTV is making the dice unit.

That was funny, I was wondering when that was going to be stated. Like everything, including the Dension, Dice, and NavTv, there is always some issues, I would say that they are limited today only to the implementation and installation, most all of the bugs have been worked out. I haven't heard about a bad iPod from NavTv in a while, a long while at that. So just maybe you had an earlier model that needed some software love or I would say you need a new installer that understands today’s electronics.
Seriously, I had to help an installer out in NY with the implementation of a few NavTv units going into a single vehicle. The guy stated first that he knew what he was talking about and he did a few, however, honestly my 7 year old son can tell you more about MOST fiber optics than you can imagine.... I would suggest you email NavTv with your problem or call, personally email is better because you can always revert back to it. Plus the NavTv unit is not going to keep you from operating your vehicle, so ya can wait for a reply.
Unfortunately NavTv biggest problem is that they have to rely on aftermarket shops to do the install. And we all know how crappy 95% of those shops are, lowest employed employees, hurry up jobs so they can do the next, doesn't know how it operates, or why it operates. Hell the easiest way to find a specialist shop is to find someone that knows how an amp is made and works. At least you know they are serious. When I used to own my shop, Every vehicle would have a seat cover and a paper floor mat, walk around the vehicle with the client if they were available, any panel that came off was stored, not just tossed on the back seat, if we were working on the radio, the area around it would be taped off, especially the shifter, work was performed, no but splices, everything was heat shrinked and soldered, every wire was ran in tekflex. Every aspect of the vehicle was checked and rechecked for proper operation, vacuumed out, and hand washed. Upon the customer returning, a proper walk through, a business card with a 24 hour tech line to a cell phone. And they didn't leave till they were completely happy and know how it works. The company was bought out and today is running stronger than ever. Now they offer loaner cars, and have some of the best vehicle techs in the <st1

<!--[endif]-->I was going to save the story for another day... but basically in NavTv defense, I have to say that installers and DiY'rs are the biggest problem today. In the past it was a 50/50 shot at the blame because of a small software glitch which has been fixed, and the unit was updated.
Let's all admit, that the biggest issue, is that Porsche is a bit out of touch with today’s times
