Help: Overboost gauge on the main display
Hi,
I just got my 997 Turbo and I have a question regarding the boost display on my car. From what I can tell, my boost display is a little horizontal bar graph (with 1.2 bar as the maximum range). However, I have seen on other people's car that their boost display shows "psi" instead of "bar". How come?
Moreover, how do you know when your overboost function is activated or not? Does it indicate that on the display? Because just by looking at the boost meter, I have yet to see it go over 1 bar (even with "sport on").

Overboost only comes on the optional Sport Chrono Package.
Note: Even on overboost it will fall back to 1.0bar after 5000rpm. It's only a mid-range overboost function.
I imagine you can switch from bar to psi somehow. Probably in the user manual.
The vehicle’s flexibility can be enhanced even further with the optional “Sport Chrono Package Turbo”, available for the first time. Here the driver selects the “sports button” adjacent to the gear lever to activate a short-time “overboost” at full throttle. This increases boost pressure in the mid speed range by 0.2 bar (2.9psi) to 1.2 bar for up to ten seconds; torque rises from 60 to 680 Newtonmeters. The time required by the 997 Turbo with manual transmission for intermediate acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h is reduced by 0.3 seconds to 3.5 seconds.
I imagine you can switch from bar to psi somehow. Probably in the user manual.

When you have the "sport button" on you must hit the gas pretty fast. When this is done correctly you will see an arrow by you boost guage pointing up. This tells you that you are now in overboost mode. You can change the units from bar to psi by going into your units in the onboard computer and changing them. Look in your manual it should explain better.

Push the lower toggle below the turn signal toggle on the left side of the steering wheel until you see "setting" and then look for something that says PSI or BAR. It's in the manual.

Also when the sport button is on you have to stab the throttle and see the little up arrow to the right of the gauge. Then you are in overboost.
