Mark,

Your car looks sweet!

Every time I see a car with an SC, I want one even more.

So Delius, are we now going to be able to back up our individual GIAC SC flash onto our own flashloader for servicing via Porsche DME upgrades and fixes?

Then can we reflash our backed up individual GIAC SC flash back to the DME?

hjacobs2000,

The flash holder only allows one to switch programs race gas, valet, and kill. It can not be used as a small hard drive.

1999Porsche911

I have had two Porsche mechanics tell me it would be a good idea for additional cooling. Why do you think not?

---You DO NOT want the air coming from the bottom and out the engine lid as this will substantially increase both engine temperature and intake temperature. You can already maintain an intake temperature at the filter within 10F of ambient quite easily with the stock setup.---

The engine compartment is designed to allow airflow into the trunk lid and out the bottom of the car. As you drive, air is flowing into the lid's vents. If you somehow reversed that flow, you would be competing against this natural flow and increase engine compartment temperatures.

Remember that the headers are low on the engine and allowing air to pass by them in an upward direction and out the trunk lid would substantially raise engine and intake air temps. I have seen intake air temperatures in excess of 200F simply by reversing polarity of the engine compartment fan so it draws air out of the engine rather than suck it in. In addition to the heat from the headers, road surfaces are generally hotter than ambient temps.

Ok, that makes sense. Maybe I should consider having a hole cut in the right side of the tail on the inside like the Turbos have to allow more airflow in the correct direction?

I would like to cool the compartment some if possible.

Delius, could you detail the specifics of what will be available to upgrade current sc units?

Delius has refrained from guessing on stuff like this the whole time. I'm glad, actually. If he were wrong, even once, his credibility could/would be gone.

I walked into a really awesome shop this weekend. I was so impressed. I saw a 350Z that looked like it had tens of thousands of dollars in mods on it. Really nice. The head mechanic told me it would do 210mph down the back straight at VIR. I turned around and walked out and will never trust them and their fancy place with my car. This is just how I feel and what I appreciate in shops/tuners... and so I have Delius' charger on my car.

Delius, I am sold on your system for the 996. EVOMS claimed (both in magazine articles and on the phone) that they were actively seeking CARB approval for this system. It never happened. Is VF Engineering going to get this system CARB certified, so I can legally have one on my car? Thanks in advance, for your answer.
I would bet that I'm not the only California resident who hasn't bought your system because of the smog legality issue.

As for the 993 question:

Go to TPC racing http://www.tpcracing.us/ I know they do a kit for the 993.

We are still working on this and hope to have it official as soon as possible.
