despite that weight increase, the new m3 will run even with a 997s in a straight line. on the course, i'd give it to the 997s. that being said, my '08 purcahse preference is leaning towards a p-car rather than the new m3, but for a variety of reasons....not just speed alone. a 997s with an aerokit is pure hottness...

So, I think BMW lost the soul of the M3 in order to make it bigger and more luxurious, and in order to try to win the HP wars changed what the M3 was all about (I6 being the heart).
