Audi R8 vs Porsche 997

Drag race featuring a Audi R8 vs Porsche 997 on a wet surface. Both cars are AWD so the wet ground does not effect their performance.http://www.awdforums.com/general-media-room-f81.html

Top gear did one with a c4s with the x51 and won 2 of three. Still this is a great video, thanks for posting.

I did a couple runs with the 997s and R8 .. the results were more along the lines of the Fifth Gear video.

how can you say the wet doesnt affect performance??? every test done whether its a mag or top gear have all concloded the c4s is faster in a straight. the 911 has more of a rear wheels bias than the audi does IIRC so yes, the wet DOES affect performance.

I think thats the race with the Targa C4S tip. Thats pretty much one of the heaviest and slowest straight line 911s they could have picked lol.

In either case, who cares about stright line, I want to know how these two would compare on the track...

Someone recently posted a Top Gear (?) comparo of the two. Try a search. The results were inconclusive imo. But this is the 997 board after all

I think the R8 rocks. It's not necessarily for the same person as a 911 (IMHO), but it rocks. Half of the posers (no one on this board, for sure... ) would be much better served in the R8. And the lap times at the Bedford Autodrome are amazing. Faster than a GT3...

I'd choose the R8, no question! Too bad there are none on the market.
