Vortech V2 SQ supercharger
Vortech V2 SQ supercharger
Just finding this site, so I haven't had time to read all the posts regarding superchargers. I have an 07 C2S and I'm coming out of an 06 Z06 and an E55 AMG. Love my 2S, but I really need a lot of reliable HP to keep me in it.
Is this the same EVO kit that's posted on here? I'd like to purchase it so I need a few good shops to look at in my area for the install. I'd appreciate any info on what shops, estimated cost of install, HP #s and reliability issues if any? I've read about hoses popping and bad tuning, please enlighten me.
TIA

Well, I have the Evo supercharger kit. This kit uses the Vortech blower, but I can't comment to this being the same kit as Vortech's. There are many things involved in the building of the kit, such as the engine tuning. Who does it say did the ECU tuning on the Vortech kit? Evo uses GIAC, which is arguably the most experienced. However, I'll answer your questions as if they were about the Evo kit.
Can't help you with what shops in NY. NY Seal is a member on here who has the kit too. I'm assuming by his name that he is there in NY too. I'm in NC. Anyway, well... I also can't comment on the cost to install. I just don't remember. I have put 20k miles on my charger though, as well as many track days and tons of really hard driving. I think it cost somewhere between $2-3k to put it in and tune it all right. That charge, I think, included the install charge of my headers and exhaust though, which you absolutely have to do. I chose Fabspeed, which most of the guys on here used too. It is the exhaust kit that was on the Evo cars when they designed the system, if I remember correctly. Didn't see any reason to look elsewhere. I also haven't dynoed my car since the mods. I'm a slacker. But it has a ton more power. Since you said you are coming out of a Z06, I will mention that the closest race that I have ever had in a straight line was with a new Z06 that had an exhaust, intake, chip, and cam. We ran side by side out of a hairpin turn (on a road course) and stayed beside each other up to 155. I came out of the turn better than he did, so I think that's how I stayed with him at the beginning. Anyway, not to go down that road, but I thought it would be a good comparo for you. I also have the IPD plenum, which I actually could feel. I've never had any hoses pop or any issues like that. However, I was one of the first 10 997 builds they did, and the ECU tuning was set up for drier areas. I had tuning probs living in the Carolinas because of the humidity, but they got it taken care of and everything has been perfect since. Took about 2 weeks to figure it out because I was a sort of guinea pig. Part of it. But I have had no engine lights or anything. It's been a wonderful experience.
That's what I know. Hope it helps. But I would go through all the threads and read all you can. Just search on the forum and you'll have a bunch of good reading. Take the time to do that before doing anything else.
Rock on. Let us know what you decide to do.

Im not sure what kit your refering to other than the EVO kit. Vortech doesnt make a kit for any Porsche. The V2 you listed in your title is just the model of a blower that Vortech makes, and its the blower used in the EVO kit.
The only other 997 kit on the market that i know of is the RUF. TPC made one for the 996,not sure if they have one available for the 997 as of now.

Thanks for all the info. I'm still breaking my car in and holding off to see if there will be any mechanical problems before I void the warranty with a SC kit. In the mean time, I'm hoping another group sale will come along. Nothing wrong with saving a few $ here and there.
