997 S

Hey guys, I tried searching for this topic in the 997 forum here but didnt see anything. I have a 03 Carrera Cab and Im looking into a 997 S 07 leftover discounting them pretty good. Ive never drove a S, how much better is a Carrera S compared to my 996? I know thats kind of a stupid question, but is it a big difference, I know the 997 handles like crazy, is there a difference speed wise too. Im gonna go down there this weekend to test drive but just wondering ahead of time thanks

They're quick cars and handle alot better than the 996, I will say that the car isnt going to blow you away in a straight line, if you want that get a ZO6 or a Turbo. The 997S blows you away on the speed it takes turns at, and accelerates out of them.

night and day. I went from a 996Turbo to a 997S. most people consider it a "downgrade" but I absolutely love the way a 997 drives. only step up, 997Turbo/GT2/3 = )

My brother had a 2002 Cab and the 997S feels considerably faster. Big difference, IMO.

Hey guys going tommorrow to go look at 2 2007 Carrera S that dealerships are DYING to get rid off. I added a TT OEM Front Bumper to my 03 Carrera C2 and painted the calipers red and have 19" Carrera Classics, and MKII side skirts. Do you think the dealer cares if I added that to the car if im trading it in? Let me know what you guys think thanks

The mods might help them resell it a little quicker than a stock one - assuming of course they put it on the lot as opposed to auction or something. Good luck with the trade in and can't wait to see pix of the ne wheels.

Good luck, let us know what you think. My father is thinking about taking the plunge into a 997S as well.

Even though they are porsche parts I don't think they will add a penny to the value. Maybe even detract some value. Dealers like stock.

I went from an 04 996 to a 997S and I do not know if it feels much faster, but ir feels a hell of a lot more powerful if that makes sense. The seat position and interior upgrades alone make it well worth trading up. I really think the 997S is the best 911 ever made. I absolutely love this car more and more every time i get in it which is every single day. I never felt that about my 996.

Well MY LONG day is over from the escapade of two dealer trips to check out the Carrera Ss. It aint going to happen for me. The dealer was going to give me 35k for my car HAHA my jaw almost fell off . I knew it was coming though so it was expected. It was so funny one of the salesman and the Manager were checking my car out and were like WOW nice car. I can tell he wants it bad, then hes like ill give you 35k for it, THEN says hell sell it for 50k . Whatever I actually never even drove the cars so still dont know what the S feels compared to my 996 Cab. But if any of you guys are looking for a new 997, look for a leftover 2007 model. They were discounting them 10k right off the bat. One of the 997s was 94k MSRP pretty loaded and he was going to lease it for 36 months 10k miles 1st month down out of pocket and 1261 a month w taxes inc. Not bad for almost a 100k car.
