PORSCHE 997 C2..... or.. RANGE ROVER SPORT S/C...???
PORSCHE 997 C2..... or.. RANGE ROVER SPORT S/C...???
I am in the middle of deciding trading in my Porsche for Range Rover Sport Supercharged model fully loaded.
What is your thought?
I am going to put many miles on my porsche pretty sure, and i know by doing that, I am depriciating the value of my porsche by far.
The KBB value of my car was about $300~400 less than the Range Rover Sport. I am looking into long run, so what do you think!?
I know I have put many aftermarket parts on my porsche, but I understand the value of car never changes by those.
Let me here your voice!
Thanks

two totally different cars... really depends on what you're looking for... if you're looking for a good dd that can handle those harsh winters easily, get the RR. But, if you're looking for a car that you look forward to driving everyday, keep the 997.
I think you will hate yourself everyday you step in the range if you do it....
The range is like driving a boat to me, two totally different cars. I still have a smile on my face every morning when i start up the 997.
I personally would not do it, but I also do not consider the depreciation on the car either... A car is not an investment to me, more like a luxury good...
Either way, good luck with your decision. (If you do, I call dibs on your bumper
)

Everyone I know that has owned a RR...says they will never own another one.
And lately they have become more and more a "chick car" so....
and I think the Porsche will hold its value more.
but like they said...both are totally different cars...so its useless to compare them, what are your needs etc.

The reason being, I live in the area where it snows crazy in winter, and rains often. I love playing golf, but again, I can not put a single bag on my 997. I am still debating this decision, in the meantime, whats your thought about 06 E55 AMG?

your used porsche has already taken it's biggest hit in depreciation. it will probably depreciate at a lot slower rate than a new range rover. keep the porsche and buy a cheaper suv as a daily driver.
The RR certainly isn't as bad as some seem to think, but I agree the best advice may be to keep the 997 and get a cheaper SUV. I got a CPO Honda Pilot a couple of months back as a backup to my 997, and now that I no longer have to treat the 997 as something of a compromise I enjoy it even more. I have the SUV for the times I need the space and the 997 for everything else.
My neighbor has a beautiful 993 and is constantly telling me that their RR is the biggest POS they have ever had.
I don't really understand the uber-luxury SUVs. I bought my wife an Infiniti FX and we drove the X5, the X3, the ML, a RR, a Disco and a Cayenne S.
None of them were all that great IMO but it is handy from time to time to have the AWD and some cargo capacity.
I'd keep the 997 and get a cheap SUV as a beater.
I had an Exploder and a Grand Cherokee a while back and they were both decent tools for the job.

I have seen a lot of RR and RRS, what scares me they were ranked by JD Powers as the worst in problems per 100 vehicles where Porsche was the best. Not only that, they are plagued by problems. I personally would look into a few other vehicles before the sport, more likely the Benz ML63 AMG, or the Cayenne, depending on how much off roading you might do.
What I don't get is why even worry about the price of resale anymore. you go by KBB and the dealers go by wholesale. Not to mention when you buy a $80k vehicle, and drive it, why expect in 2-3 years with miles on it that it is going to be worth $80k? Vehicles are depreciating assets, plain and simple the depreciate, I seen Maybachs, Porsche's, Bugatti's, Bentley's you name it...

WeirD!!!!!!!!
I just made the switch over the weekend. My whole issue was that it was my everyday car and there were some issues with my carrera since it was used. I got frustrated at throwing money at it and eventually the lack of space and utility took over my decision.
I have a new Range Rover Supercharged. All the gadgets and stuff really make the car unique for me. Never had so many things to play with and lowering the car or raising it is fun.
Honestly I miss the Porsche because it was the sexiest car on the planet. With all the mods I did the car was like a naked brooke burke coming down the highway, but at times I really did not want all of that attention and having to drive at stupid angles to get out of parking lots or at times just not even go in got dumb.
The rangerover sport-the smaller one does not have the same issues the larger one has. But the gas mileage really sucks and the brakes will need to be serviced usually around 20-30K...Keep that in mind--its a 6000lb truck.
