Terrific pictures, you should go to Alice springs for the highspeed shoot outs.

Enjoy it in good health mate!

Two months and 5,000km on and the car is better than ever. I took a couple of long trips in it and was surprised how good a tourer it makes. I'd choose it over the M5 for a 1,000 km weekend, just for the responsiveness at highway speeds - the roll-on ability beats the BMW which really needs a couple of gearchanges for any overtaking move.

I've been using it as a daily driver and now I'm thinking I don't really need the M5 for this purpose - apart from those days when I need to carry more than one adult.

The Porsche doesn't scratch every itch however - I miss the drama and noise of the Gallardo, so I'll check out the Melbourne Motor Show in a few weeks to see what's coming. I'll be keeping the 911 though, whatever else happens.

Here's a pic taken by my friend Ash yesterday in the beautiful Adelaide Hills.

Nice to hear some people still choose overall enjoyment over status. Although I wish I could make those types of step downs. I miss my 997S

Its pictures like above that show that the classic 911 shape is understated, but very beautiful!

Thanks for the ownership update! I agree, the car is a blast and will always have a place in my garage, no matter what other newer cars come out in the future.

Thanks for sharing and great pics!

My daily car is an M5 but I plan to try the Porsche in this role to see how I go. I'll miss the auto on headlights and auto wipers on the BMW but that is about it as far as I can tell.

Here's some quick "proof of purchase" pics.
I was debating M5 vs 997S (Audi RS4 was also in the mix). I ultimately went with the 997S as well for the same reasons listed throughout this thread. I have no regrets. Btw, you can make your 997 scream too, just need exhaust or a bypass pipe. It won't wail like the G or a 430, but it will surely give you goosebumps...

All the best...

I believe all 997s have auto wipers (1st setting on the switch). Perhaps it is different in the Southern Hemisphere, though. As far as auto lights, I couldn't agree more. How Porsche hasn't gotten a handle on that 15 year old technology is beyond me.
