Alex why would the Pcar be different from the bimmer as far as current draw when parked? My experience with the M3 as well in which I left the car parked for 3 weeks while I was in Japan and the sum***** started right up. I was considering this as well.

The company is Odyssey.

They do batteries right.

When my Interstate MTP-91 quits (it's been in 1.5 years) I am going to an Odyssey. It saves about 20-25 lbs.

As the wise man said 25 lbs here, 25 lbs there, it starts to add up after a while.

The odyssey is exactly what I was thinking of getting for the 997. I ran it in my M3 and it provided similar ratings in cranking output, reserve power, etc as the stock battery and weighed 22 lbs less. It is one of the many advantages of a dry cell battery. It also comes with the aluminum case that secures the battery in place...I just need to look in the battery compartment and see if I am able to screw the case in place without harming anything underneath or using a strong adhesive. I probably won't do this until Spring though.

NIKAS is infamous around these parts
If you are at the track/autocross, or know you will be in a drag race, remove your spare tire, tool kit, floor mats - you will notice the difference right away. Also a couple threads on 996 board on Odyssey batteries with pics if you do a search.

I know nothing about Braille but do know that many of the Ferrari guys have gone to the Odyssey with very good results.

There is about a 20 lb difference from the OEM FIAAM battery. Had I known of this battery 2 years ago when I changed mine I would have gone to the Odyssey.

Since I keep my car on a tender I would say my Interstate will now last a very long time. So my assumption is that it will be some time before I change out that battery.

I'll dove-tail Gcalo.......I have Odysee 928s in two 996s......mount below & other pics on my site.
(I'm not trolling on this board....rather 'learning' as I have an in-bound FL997 )

Originally I did it as part of weight loss on the tracking Turbo but these are good bats. I guess the 997 may have more power sucking stuff but I'd think you should be OK...... If the car is not driven for more than a week I plug in the tender (but I used to do that anyway).
OE batt on 996 was 51 lbs.....Optima Red 38lbs, Odyssey1200 38lbs, Odyssey928 26lbs.

Huge weight difference from the OEM battery. Wow that's almost 50%! Good going.

I just can't get a "feel" for the Braille batteries!

Remove the Rear Seats, the Backs and the Bottoms weight about 25-30lbs and are totally useless IMO.

Another way to loose 25lbs is Weight Watchers, take it off your own ***!

I don't think that many of us are good enough drivers to take advantage of a small weight savings like this.
