Ever get pulled over in a case of mistaken identity?
It happens to me all the time but not in my car. Usually at the airports. They mistake me for a middle eastern terrorist and pull me out of the line do a complete head to toe search and then let me go, hmmmmmm they must be looking for one of my home boyz. but its a real good way to beat the long lines at the airport.

that's
. Even been to heathrow? I'll gladly trade some racial profiling for a chance to beat the lines at that stupid place
Anybody ever get clocked across a median and just gun it? Does it count as failure to yield (or evading arrest) if they never get close enough for you to see their lights in your rear view mirror?
I mean REALLY. They got to work for it. I'm not just going to sit there and wait for them.
Not saying I endorse that sort of behavior but.....
Like some have already said, I doubt they can do anything in such scenario.

This sort of thing used to happen in Salem, MA a while back. Also in the Inquisition. I mean, anyone can say anything about anyone... where is due process and innocent until proven guilty? Shouldn't one be able to face one's accuser?

I've had it happen a couple of times. I moved to Westminster CO at the same time the largest spammer in the world did, who shares the same first/last names. He was under indictment by the attorney general of NY and others at the time.
That's apparently the problem with having a popular color (ie: black)...Apparently someone was driving a little too quick in a 'black Porsche' and someone called 911 from their cell phone...The trooper pulled over the first black Porsche he saw. After explaining that it wasn't me and I would NEVER speed on public roads, especially with my kids in the backseat - he let me go on my way...Just curious what would have happened if the kids weren't sitting in the back...No interest in taking the rap for someone else's bad driving...
I also remember a rally this summer when one of the yellow Lambo's got pulled over for the same scenario...An identical Murci way ahead of him was clocked at triple digit speeds and this other fellow got pulled over for it. I guess the trooper figured how many yellow Murci's can there be on the same stretch of road...
Anyone else ever have to deal with this scenario?

Never Ever been pulled over for a case of mistaken identity........
Never.....
I was caught doing donuts in my first car (mini cooper) at 3am in a huge empty parking lot after a nice snow fall (that car was so fun on a huge layer of fluffy snow) by some construction worker or something.
we left, and then the cops pulled me over like 4 blocks down.
the cop didn't witness anything
pig: we got a complaint that a silver Mini and a Jetta (my friend's car) were doing donuts in the parking lot of blah blah
me: oh really? from who?
pig: a concerned citizen saw you two
me: us? it wasn't us
pig: he gave your plates
me: well, sorry to say, it wasn't us. Perhaps this person was just driving by, didn't like our faces and decided to get us into trouble?
pig: I saw donut marks in the parking lot.
me: could have been anyone.
pig: so you weren't there?
me: no.
pig: have a nice evening
me: you too.
if they don't have proof, they can't touch you.
Same with speeding, if they can't measure it, they can't give you a ticket for just speeding. The points are based on how fast you were going, and they can't just guesstimate. (at least in Canada)
I got pulled over on the highway doing 150km/h in a 70 zone (I thought it was 100)
Cop asked me how fast I was going, I told him "I don't know, could you tell me?"
he was like "you were doing 110km/h"
right there I knew I couldn't get a ticket, and I didn't.. just a pep talk

The second case didn't involve speeding and the officer knew that as well as I did. He just talked to me for a minute or two until the slowpoke passed us where I was pulled over. Then the officer smiled and said "Okay. That will make his day. Sorry to hold you up, sir. Have a good evening."

I was doing donuts in an intersection at 3am with one of the greatest cars I've ever owned - a three on the tree model 210 1957 Chevy. Finished having fun and went back to my buddy's apartment. As I was getting out of my car a cop rolled up and asked "how many 57 Chevys do you think are driving around town tonight?" I said "couldn't be many." Then he asked "how many doing donuts in the intersection of x/y streets?" I said probably just one.
Fortunately I was wearing my flight jacket and then on active duty. The officer asked where I was going, I explained about my buddy's apt, he said "if I see you driving any more tonight, you'll spend the rest of your leave in jail."

if by duty you mean air force, I don't know how it works in the US, but I know from my greek friends that the police can't touch you while you are military, they need to call the MPs and do a whole report to them for you to be able to get ticketed or everything
You don't have to tell a lie - I try to think like a lawyer. Just answer the question in the most narrow way possible with as little definition as you can.
Back when this happened (the mid-80s), most cops were veterans. In the US it's hard for a veteran to be a hard-a$$ with another veteran (that's probably true anywhere). As a helicopter pilot, I got cut especially large breaks. No matter what branch you're in, when the going gets tough, it's usually a helicopter that's going come and get you help.
