Question rubber chin spoiler question

There is a small rubber spoiler under the front of my '07 C2S Cab. I'm not sure if it's for proctection of the underside or areodynamics. It scrapes on just about anything I drive over (driveways, speed bumps, etc.) Now the right half of it falls off just about every day. I get down and snap it back into the slots, but by the next day, it's off again. I took the car to the dealer and was told to take it off completely. They said it really serves no purpose and is not a warranty item that they will replace.
Anyone else have this problem?

I think its to warn you when you are scrapping the bottom....cheaper than hitting more expensive parts. I can't tell you the number of time I hear the damn thing scrape....at least mine is still intact. It may serve aerodynamic purpose at 150mph. Interesting to see what others will say.

It's a POS that makes the car look ratty. Mine went in the trash awhile back.

The part is a piece of $h*t it doesn't stay on, and they dont cover it. I know its a cheap part to replace, but if it was soooo vital to think Porsche wouldnt make it so easy to displace.

Doesn't removing it void the warantee on your drivetrain?

Seriously, I think it's for protection primarily. If your's is damaged, they are cheap to replace.

I found the part online and it's refered to as a spoiler so I assume it is used to modify or direct air flow. Here is a link. It's part # 11 in the diagram. No affiliation.

It directs air flow to part #10 which scoops the air towards your breaks = cooler breaks. Not that big of a deal for daily driving, but could be very helpful at the track.

I think it's used to reduce turbulence under the car by sweeping air away thereby reducing lift at high speeds.
