997 with lsd is it possible?

I have a 2008 carrera s tiptronic. I know that porsche has lsd but it works only with the manual gearbox and I wanted to know if anyone knows if it is possible to put an aftermarket lsd in a tiptronic 997

I have no idea. But I bet Quaife will know and may have one. Send them an email to their tech support or product inquiries and let us know.

Somebody else makes the LSD for the factory sport pack if it is available with the tip, but I do not know who.

Quaife does make a LSD for the 997, vivid racing sells one.

I have a Quaife LSD in my 6 spd 997, so I know they make one that works. I don't know about its use with the tiptronic.

Here you go...http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/q...16.html?page=3

Also you can go OEM as Porsche does make a LSD for a 997 as you probably know.

Yes, these are for 997 6 speeds not Tiptronic...that is the problem the LSD does not seem to be available for the Tip cars.

Does Porsche put LSD on the Tip 997's in Europe like they do on the 6 speeds?

I am no expert. Far from it. But I would recommend you contact Quaife tech support directly. I see the LSD on their site for older tip cars. And for 996 and Cayman. I am pretty sure they have LSD's OEM and aftermarket for BMW M cars with automatic transmissions. I am clueless technically but how hard could it be? BTW, I have an aftermarket Quaife on my M5 but have not missed it on the C4S at all.

I would not assume because it is not on their site it is not available unless they say it is not available for a 997 tip. You might also check the Rennteam sites and the Porscheclubgbforum for what is available as options on their cars.

hi
thank you for the information.
just i have one question, my car (2005 997 s manual) is equipped with pasm and PCM as standard ; after you have installed the quaife LSD did it make any interferance with any of the electronical systems in the car?
and how long did it take to install the LSD in the service?

No problems with either PASM or PSM at all. You basically won't even know its there except when driving aggresively or on the track and then you'll only know that you're able to put power down much earlier exiting corners.

I think it was a three or four hour install, but I don't remember for sure. Well worth it whatever it takes.
