I wanted to document that they had to remove excess oil they had put in. It is fine now.
Which dealer did you go?
The one closed to me only charge 250

Stealership quoted me $500 for an oil change- went to a reputable independent Porsche shop for $125. My car will never see a dealership again!

I believe its a UK product .. on the Porsche approved oil list of WW/RoW vehicles.

  • Helps to deliver the all important boost in engine power
  • Deliver superior thermal stability, ensuring minimal engine deposits for cleaner internals
  • Ensures engine protection from the first moment of ignition, minimizing wear and damage
  • Exceeds high performance standards set by premium car manufactures including all modern Europeans and Japanese prestige vehicles
  • Meets modern emission systems’ needs
  • Uses synthetic technology to deliver improved performance over conventional oil

It was one of the few in Orange County, where there are too many people with too much money, so they get away with it.

I'd like to see a copy of that invoice that says $800 for just an oil change. The going rate is maybe $250 and I just got a mailer from my dealer for $170 for a limited time.

There must be more to the story.

It was $799 plus some BS taxes etc for total of $832 for the 20k service, which essentially consisted of the oil & filter change, cabin filter change, and a check of fluids, belts, tires, etc. Local licensed Porsche shop used by many in the OC Region PCA club said they would have done it for $265. I would be glad to provide a copy of the invoice if you don't believe it.

I tell the service tech to put in 8 quarts and leave the 9th quart on the front floor. I then top up to the correct level when I get home - 4 miles later.

This is probably the 20k/2 year service. Still a silly price but not really "just an oil change". They usually charge around this figure. Origional poster must have known that. As has been said, find a good independent shop if you care. I have.

Torqued everything to spec ( I am sure some dealers won't). Well documented here in the forums and plus you get to know the car better.
After the 2nd time, takes 20 to 30 minutes to change.

Anyone knows how to reset the maintenance msg? I paid about $600 for the 2year service, I guess the oil change is about $200 and to reset the msg is $400

Would changing your own oil void warranty? I know with my sisters Benz she was told that if she didnt have her regular scheduled maintenance her warranty would be voided.
