PS - No glue with the Boost Controller piece just cut to length about 13-14MM.
Hi David

The full X-51 kit has a new intake manifold, yes; but according to Parr Motorsport here in the UK (UK Cargraphic agent and very successful race team) the X-51 throttle body is also drop-in replacement on the standard intake plumbing. It apparently fits perfectly on either the standard plastic Tee or an IPD plenum. Bolt centres are the same, gasket is the same part number.

I've just assumed the information Parr gave me to be correct. Maybe there's something here that they're unaware of?

Regards

Ian

IAN,

There is a size difference. I am 99% positive it can't be done because I tried. Even if it would bolt on the Bore of the TB and The Plenum are the same size. The Bore on the X-51 TB is larger by 6-8mm so that would not match the Plenum bore of the Stock Plenum or the RSS plenum.

The folks at RSS felt their Plenum and modified TB provided the same or more benefit as the X51 intake and its increased size. One thing to remember I don't think the inlet size at the head is any different, they use the same gasket regardless of intake.

Attached is a picture of my Modified TB. Stock is on the left.

David

Best quick mod for an X-51 would be sport cats and straight-through mufflers.

Very true, I like to call the cold air intakes Hot Air Intakes.

Looks like the Throttle Body and Airbox are missing.

Get these parts quoted from Suncoast or Sunset before you bid.

Check the following link out, go to the 997 Parts catalog. You can figure out everything you need.

Don't hesitate to PM me if you need anything else.

I already ordered the airbox, t-body, and plenum, all i need are the intake manifolds.
The 3 items cost me around 1400 from sunset, the intake manifolds i think were another 900.

Ian.
Did you buy that TB modified, or did you do it yourself.
I see the plates are cutout, I guess that can only help airflow.

Does anyone know if the x51 headers can be added without dropping the engine?

Simon

Hi Simon - it's dndodd who has the throttle body. I've no experience of this product.

My appologies Ian, Of course it should have been directed to David.

Yes and No!

My intention at the moment is to fit my car with the full AWE system and IPD plenum then get used to it for a while. What I'm trying to find at the moment is a UK- or Europe-based firm that can create maps for the 997S that are specifically designed to work with this combination of components and the Shell V-Power 99-RON gas that is readily available here. I have a feeling that properly pulled together with the right timing, fuelling and variocam settings, this combination will really fly.

I'd then be able to offer this map to others with the same combination of mods so they'd get a known and proven BHP increase. However, I've yet to find the right tuning firm.
