Need help with a front bumper
Need help with a front bumper
I'm torn between a gt3 front bumper and a RUF front bumper. Would anyone have a picture of a Ruf nosed car and gt3 nosed car in the same picture so i can really get a visual comparison of the two in the same scale. Also, for those of you who purchased a Ruf bumper, how was the fit and finish out of the box? Was there alot of work that was needed to make it fit properly? Thanks in advance

Tony, you da man!!! Thanks for posting the bumper pic!
Michael, my Ruf bumper came to me in an odd manner. It was "used" in the sense that the original owner smoothed it and primed it, but never painted or installed since he sold the car. I ended up getting the bumper for a cheaper price, plus it came all prep'd and ready to paint.
The only other person that has this bumper on the forum is abdullah. He has it on his white Carrera S. He may be able to give you more feedback on its original condition.
In regards to fit and finish: it's perfect. The material (PUR-RIM) is a stiffer type of urethane, and is not very flexible after painting. The GT3 Bumper is OEM Porsche and has very much the same qualities as your current stock bumper.
I obviously like the look of mine, but a GT3 bumper is equally as nice with a good paint job and screen inserts. They are also going for pretty good prices right now.
When I was driving the other weekend with Tony and Chris (TY328 and Synergy), their cars looked awesome! The front bumpers are very reminiscent of a Carrera GT, especially when they are in motion! It definitely adds an "exotic" touch to the look of the car!

Tony (TY328) has some really cool pictures of his GT3 front bumper as well.

One thing I forgot to mention... the stock underbody flaps and mudguards don't fit as well as they do for the stock bumper. If you look closely, you can tell that the bumper isn't a perfect fit.
Thanks for the pics and the reply. Spyder,Ty328 your cars are stunning ! Spyder the corner radiator openings on the Ruf piece look alot bigger. Does the front feel light at speed? Any lift?

Nothing noticeable. I read somewhere that the RT12 aerodynamics do indeed create lift at high speeds, though. I never get to take my car that fast, but in the rare instances that I do, the car feels planted (this is more likely due to my coilovers and lowered height).
