X-51 parts on 997s

I was contacting Sunset about pricing for some of the X-51 parts such as the intake and T-body. I was wondering what other parts do i need for the install of these, I asked them and they were not so sure either. They said I might need a wiring harness extension to go to the mass air flow sensor.
Does anyone know what else I might need, if anything at all.

I tried just doing the airbox before, but my installer discouraged it because he mentioned that most of the gain comes from an ecu flash and cylinder head replacement! Not sure how true that was.

I've seen a few guys who just did the x51 headers and airbox, and it worked out pretty well. They had to do some cutting to make the airbox vents fit through the decklid.

I already have the X-51 headers, as well as muffler bypass pipes along with the GIAC, so im hoping to gain a few extra ponies with the airbox, T-body, and maybe the intake manifold.

I know you got to cut out the extra whole since its a dual outlet but i was wondering if i needed any other parts to order for the install or is it simply just plug n play type thing

I bought my X-51 airbox from these folks; parts@suncoastmotorsports.com

They have done it and know what parts are needed.

Actually the cylinder heads differ from the non X51 heads is a stiffer exhaust valve spring and a good valve job. At best probably only 5-10rwhp over a non X51 head. The ECU reflash along with the intake should be definitely worth something along with a good exhaust.

310 at the rear wheels sounds pretty good (I also think its a conservative dyno). Plus, the guy has been posting videos of him pulling multiple cars!

I think an x51 dyno's at 320-330hp, so he's pretty close!

I have read somewhere on this forum that a 1.16 factor to figure out wheel horse power to engine power. 310 hp at the wheels is about 360 hp at the engine. The x51 with 330 hp at the wheels is 382.8 hp at the engine. Sounds right for the X51 estimate. This is not a 100% accurate conversion, but a rough guideline.

Many things can effect the numbers from a Dyno, it is an tool used to measure power, one simple thing can change the outcome, the key is trying to find a baseline to compare to, like before the mod and after the mod, or two different car (like two different 997S). Then of course there is always the human element.

Different dyno, different day, different car. Also when you did your dyno were you running 93 octane or crappy Cali. 91. Strspwr ran his car on Cali 91 octane which I am sure is worth 5-8rwhp easy on a chassis dyno.

I did a lot of research on this and the toughest part of the install is the oil filler tube and cutting the new outlet. There is a template to cut out the new outlet that is included with the kit, alot of patience and steady hand along with a good dremel tool should pose no problem.
