Where are all these drivers?
Where are all these drivers?
Alright I've been reading this forum for a while now(way before I registered), and I've got to ask.
Where are all these fast Porsches?
All I read thread after thread, is look at all these mods, my car can beat everything, my TT can waste all, etc. etc...
Yet it never fails every time I see a Porsche on the road, the car is the cause of traffic. Some guy sitting in it going 10 m.p.h slower than everyone else and usually in the fast lane.
I can honestly say I have never seen anyone on these SoCal roads in the last 10 years, doing anything but being Sunday Drivers.
Look I realize the streets aren't a place for racing, but you telling me everyone on these boards are tracking their cars?
The last time I saw a Porsche haulin *** in L.A. it was racing a Ferrari and Phil Collins was singing.

I think the only car driver that may be a more serious offender is the Corvette owner.

My car is not a daily driver thus it's not always out on the street . It's with me for when I want to drive it. If someone spots me driving it slow in traffic I would not feel like any less of a person about myself or the car .
I feel the point of a fast car is to drive it exactly how one wants . I see no reason to fly through congested city traffic on public roads. The only thing that proves is wreckless driving .
I enjoy my car driving it slow. I start to enjoy things I don't really do when I'm going fast. I feel the wheels, become 1 with the road. When I go fast, it's the same way of sitting in a roller coaster. Just getting shot up at a high speed and holding on to a wheel. Not much fun.
It's about appreciating the car for what it is, not what it can do.

6speedonline and other Porsche enthusiast sites represent a very small percentage of the overall ownership of these cars.

I push my car in favorable moments. I don't need some Jacka$$ cutting me off because I'm pushing it a little. As soon as you jump out there everybody around you just tries to keep up. When cops are out there and see a porsche and "whatever" at speed who do you think is getting the ticket ..........
With recent crack downs in speeding and penalties through the roof I don't feel the need to prove anything to kids on the street.
If you wanna see Porsches going fast, go tot a lapping day. the mentality you speak of is far more reserved for kids in Honda's.
that being said I don't see any Ferrari owners acting like asses on the streets either.

Never did I say anything about doing 100 on the streets and weaving in and out of traffic, I'm talking about the fact that with almost no exception. Every time I see someone driving a 911 around, they are going about 10+ m.p.h. slower than everyone else.
Here they are in one of the most if not most recognized sports car, and they are puddling along as if in a parade procession.
Does anyone actually enjoy their cars? I hope everyone isn't buying them for vanity. Please don't let all the jokes be true.
P.S.- Am I too old? No one got the Phil Collins/Ferrari reference?

Im the guy driving the speedlimit in the Porsche. But when the road is clear I open it up of course, but thats when no ones watching and Im impressing myself, not the spectators.
I find that 50% look at you and give thumbs up when driving, the other 50% think your some young ***** in a 140k car. I dont want to give the later group reason to do something stupid, and lets face it, this is socal. it happens.
