997 C2S on order!

I bit and ordered my 997S on March 6th. Here are the details:

Basalt Black/Black
Sport Seats w/ full leather
X51
Sport Chono
Carrera Sport wheels (305 rear rubber!)
Thicker leather wheel
Self dimming mirrors
Bose

No the question is whether I sell my '04 M3 or mod it for DE... I'm still mulling this one over.

I worked with Dave Puopolo at Newport Auto. I'm looking at a May delivery.

With the facelifted cars coming out in July or August you couldn't wait, or was the discount just too good?

Congrats on your purchase and welcome.

I agree that the timing could have been better since there is a facelift coming soon that features some minor body style changes and engine upgrades. As long as you're happy!!! The x51 is a great option so you'll probably be at the same level or slightly ahead of the facelifted model.

Slightly behind is more realistic considering the DCT and increase in torque through the rev range.

I agree. Wait for the face lift, unless the deal was insane.

If you ordered the car YOU wanted, don't worry about the facelift. IMO there is nothing earth shattering about the facelift.

Given the opportunity I'd love to have all the proposed enhancements...more power/DFI, LEDs, new bumper caps, PDK, improved interior materials, new wheel designs etc etc...

The spy photos don't seem so promising to me. I don't like the boxster styled front air dams, LED cayenne shaped rear lights and the complicated headlight cluster. It seems that it was changed for the sake of change and is not really an improvement. I prefer a manual, so the PDK transmission is not an exciting thing for me either.

The rumors I am excited about are the new 3.6L integrated dry sump with DFI and lower weight. The rumor is that the C2S gets the same displacement but more power (similar to the Cayenne S vs GTS). With the same displacement, I'm not so sure the torque will be that much higher. We will have to wait and see.

That being said, your option choices look great. Congrats and remember to post pics.

I am very excited about the X51 option. I prefer rev-happy engines.

The more I think about it, the more likely letting the M3 go becomes. It has been a great car; a problem free daily driver and a holigan's delight. But onward and upward.
