Price for rear tires?!!!?!!!??!!!

So does $496 per tire sound even remotely close for new Pirellis for my 997 S?

I didnt even pay CLOSE to that for 22 inch Pirellis on my Cayenne a few weeks ago. Please tell me this is the dealer being retarded.....

Hate to say it but that is the Tire Rack price for a PS2 in 295/30/19 - it's actually a decent deal for that tire.

That's even more than the PS2. You can get the PS2 for $474 a tire and the P Zero for $457 on www.tirerack.com Here check it out. I assume you want OEM fitment http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...Y)&RunFlat=All

That sounds about right and since there has been a shortage of these sizes they are raising the prices for the demand. I hate that practice but a lot of them apply it.

Switch away from Pirellis to Bridgestones, buy slightly used (I did), or pony up. BTW, it is very hard to locate Pirelli P Zero Rosso N1 fronts for our cars right now, so switching is probably a better idea.

Did you get the P-zero or the P-zero rosso N1 oem spec tires? The rosso are not that great imho, the Bridgestone are better as are the PS2. But the actual P-zero are better than all of them.

Get used to paying. 997's eat up rears in 10-12K miles with normal driving & fronts in 20-22K miles. It could be worse, the only other thing they really need is occasional oil changes and brake pads.

Just be glad you aren't buying tires for a Veyron, for which a set of tires runs $50,000. And they are good for about 6000 miles. Over $8/mile just for rubber.
Re you Porsche tires, just remember, what other daily driver car lets you have so much fun on corners? For that, it takes lots of rubber.
