And we all new about it so you cant complain
Normal Porsche owners choose a C2 over the S for the ride quality and the price not really that it has just a little more HP
just my .02
Good points but...

As you said most here/enthusiasts/the 5% knew about the changes so there is no excuse for them, but the majority that were not aware and that just bought an X51 car or an S looking for the extra power over the base car may not be very happy to learn the new base car has the same output as their S not to mention an S will be the same output as their X51...Also most were hearing/reading that the increase in power was only 10-15 not 30.

30 more HP for a 325 hp engine is more than just a little and is a very big part of what made me and I'd imagine many others get the S. Most (but not all) of the other standard S stuff (lights rims etc) can be ordered on the base C
I actually find the ride quality of my S amazing considering the 19's and lower profile tires

Nice... I like it!

Boost the HP in the none S and boost the HP in the S.... all great news and makes me even happier I bought the none S... once I go SC (with my other mods) will have the highest perf car in the S and none S range from 05 to 09...... and maybe few more model years.... all for roughly 65K....(bought my none S used, got some great deals on a few of my mods... then the SC once CPO is up in 24 months. That 24 months will give me two summers to get a good feel for the car, maybe a few track days, driving schools etc... I don't just want HP but want to appreciate the gains and really be able to harness the new power...

Let's all keep in mind the 385 hp has not been officially confirmed by Porsche USA yet even though one of our fellow 6speeders got it from his local Porsche rep.

Carrera S X51 with over 400hp would be awesome, it might be worth trading in my current 997S.

YES IT IS confirmed by Porsche USA (Porsche rep.). I do not care who thinks in not true. When it is published by Porsche you will say" WOW it was true"

I did not say it was true or untrue...just that Porsche USA has not offically made this public even though you heard it from your local Porsche rep.

SO would it be safe to say that the 998S w/X-51 package should be over 400hp?

And if it turns out not to be true, will you agree to leave 6speedonline? Time to put up or shut up.

09 997 changes

Regardless of the rumors thus far the direct injection and PDK trans sound interesting as I am considering waiting till the 09s for my first Porsche. Would be looking at a 4S. Am anxious to hear more about the PDK - as someone here said they would be leery of first year PDK but these have been around for awhile so wouldn't think first year on the 997 would not be an issue. Anxious to hear more about how it drives compared to a 6 spd. or the Tip and how Porsche implements this on the car - only paddles on steering wheel, etc. Has anyone here driven the PDK in another car and what are your thoughts? PDK is different than the DSG tranny I believe but I think both are "dual clutch"?

With 380+ h.p. on the 09 S who is to say the X51 package would even be offered? Thanks for any comments on these issues.

That was me and although these types of trans' have been out for a while Porsche's version will be new (for this application) and although quite a bit of technology will be shared there will still be first year bugs both software and potential mechanically related...I remember when MB came out with the 7 speed auto box which did not use any form of dual clutch tech at all just the same old design albeit with an extra gear and it had lots of bugs for the first two production years affecting many owners. I have also been an advocate of wating to the new facelifted cars...they're so close.
