Air box "resonator"

Can anyone tell me what the "resonator" in the air box is for?
It seems to me that if you close off the connection of the resonator to the throttle body, more air will pass through the MAF meter and this will increase the injection of fuel and create better performance.

I think you'll find your answer is this recent thread:

I purchased the Fabspeed intake and have no complaints.

Beautiful! Just the explanation that I needed. Many thanks for the link!! BTW, found a plastic "lid" at OSH that fit perfectly into the hose leading into the throttle body-to close off the resonator box.

FabSpeed makes great stuff. The cold air intake kit from FabSpeed sounds great. Go for that or a X-51 intake
