Hello all. I want to replace some of the Black items in my '08 987 S with Carrera Red ones, such as the shift ****, e-brake, airbag, etc., to break it up a bit (exterior is Guards Red). However, from what I understand, I will need the VIN# of a car that already has a Carrera Red interior since that is a special order.

I doubt someone wants to trade (with/without cash) for some of my Black items but if so drop me an email. Or at the very least, maybe someone can let me use their VIN# to see if a dealer can order me the parts I want.

Well I got a VIN# for a 997 with Carrera Red interior. Does anyone know if a 997 shift **** will fit a 987S?

 

^^ it should. I have a 997 GT3 alcantera shift ***/boot in my 987 Cayman S

 

Before you do, be absolutely sure you want those colors together. Guards v Carrera Red....not good.

 

I wondered the same thing Eric - the interior is Black so again, I am just trying to throw some color in it. I realize that Carrera Red does not match Guards Red (my exterior color) but it still might look good, but maybe not.

I actually have a Carrera Red airbag/center section on order now...wish I could see how it looks before it arrives!

 

We can always add a few touches of Guards to the interior for you:
Shifter Boot Trim
Cupholder/Dash Trim
Ignition Rosette
Upper Door Trim
Seatbelt Outlets...

 

that's the way to go. It'll make your interior amazing also you can center consol, PCM face and back seat painted in exterior colour.


Your other option is to buy a 996 GT3 sport seat in red leather + red seatbuilts + RUF red **** and you all set.

That does not sound like a good combination. The reds will clash. I have a Guards Red 997 and have gear shift trim, door finishers, and door handles painted Guards Red. I'd strongly urge you to go that route. It looks great.

Thanks. I have talking to Mark Plummer at RUF and he is talking to Germany about a Red leather ****, like you say you have - can you post a pic of it or email it to me?

Mark says he can only recall a **** with Red stitching (on Black leather) but again, he is looking into it.
