Having trouble removing PCM

Anybody have any tips on how to successfully remove the PCM. I have turned the small black plastic hex deals as well as removed the set screw on the right side, but the PCM still won't slide out. Is there something I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to get my Tooki installed

I think it may be similar to the removal in a Cayman. You can find removal pictures/instructions here -

Yeah, those are the instructions I followed and still can't get the darn thing out. I guess I may need to use two people.

The hex keys are probably your problem.

Make sure they are actually turned correctly to depress the retainer springs.

You may need a small mirror to actually see them and that they are working correctly.

One not depressed will hold the unit in place. The Black plastic hex keys work like a cam to depress the spring metal to allow the PCM unit to come out.

Since you removed the set screw (good lock getting it back in), I assume you either missed one of the hex screws or didn't turn one completely. That's all that holds the PCM in.

PS - If you need any Tooki install advice, drop me a line. I did it 2 months ago.

Thanks for the replies. I finally got it out. The hex's did not really depress all of the tabs in far enough. I had someone push the tabs in further on one side while I pushed them in on the other and this worked to get the PCM to slide out.

I just spent 30 minutes trying to get mine out

The hex screws turn to the point the PCM is loose, but it still will not some out

I also backed out teh safety screw so that is not my probelm

Can the tabs be sticking out too far even though I turned the hex?

I am the second owner on my car and it looks like teh PCM has been out before, could the hex be broke?

Are you sure you have the right size hex wrench? Make sure they are metric, not American sizes.

But then again the hex cam could have stripped from previous owner. I think it's plastic.

The cams were broken from a previous removal.

I pushed in the silver tabs with a screwdriver and removal was easy

do you mind me asking for a quick favor? do you have the chrono package and GPS on your car? if so, are both the antenna plugs used? i believe one should be for the GPS but i'm not sure what second one is for. THanks!

I don't have GPS and both of my antenna are present. If this is anything like the Mercedes COMAND unit (which also uses MOST), they pre-wire the GPS antenna to head unit.

The second antenna is for FM radio I believe.

come to think of it... i dont think one of it is for the GPS. when i retrofitted mine, the stock head unit only had one antenna plug, which is probably for the FM radio. i plugged this back in to the new PCM, but the other antenna plug on the PCM was never used and the GPS works fine, so the data is probably fitted into the MOST cable?

the reason i am asking is because i cannot get my sport chrono to display on my PCM. the dealers tried programing it but it doesn't work and the can't figure out why. so i thought maybe the 2nd antenna is for the sport chrono communication?

I did not pay much attention, just plugged in the cables as directed

My car does not have gps
