X-51 performance package?

In looking at the PCNA 'build a car' site today, I noticed the inclusion of the X-51 package for the Carrera S and 4S as an option. It is a whopping $17K add for another 25 horsepower and sport exhaust from what I could see. Has anyone optioned a 997 with it, and if so, have you taken delivery and what are your thoughts? Thanks!

Completely worth it. Yes, you could get the same performance from other after market kits for less, but I sleep easier at night knowing that the X51 kit is covered by the factory warranty.

reewrd is infamous around these parts
i've drove one before i purchased my S, and there is a difference, but it's not huge. it was nice to compare them back to back. the x51 package has a little more torque through the mid range, but for me it just wasn't worth 17k. i bought the S and am very happy.

if power is a concern, you might just wait and order the standard 09 S, rumor is that it's north of 380hp and you can pocket the 17k .

Dual snorkel intake, larger throttle body, different intake manifold and the heads have a stiffer exhaust valve along with a good valve job and clean up. Not to mention X51 exhaust manifolds and software bringing it all together. From my understanding the 385hp is actually quite a bit underrated. There have been users on this board that recorded almost 340rwhp, putting hp closer to 400hp.

The 3.8L cams are OEM and there is no change to the cams as there was on the 996's.

The X51 Powerkit for the 997 S comes with carbon fibre airbox, larger throtte body, aluminium intake manifold, different exhaust manifolds, new cylinder heads that are also gas flowed, ECU reprogramming. Also must install PSE if the car doesn't have it and a third radiator. Notice that the 996 Powerkit had different camshafts but not the 997 S Powerkit.
