I heard of a shop that if we get 5 kits sold we may get a better deal but not sure if thet are allowed to do "group buys' however.

Hi Guys,

I just found this thread and wanted to mention that after 5 years EVOMS are no longer an exclusive distributor of the Vortech based supercharger kit designed and manufactured by VF-Engineering (Anaheim, CA). You can now contact VF-Engineering directly or any of the existing GIAC/OEM dealers who support this product for the latest info.

Does this mean the price could be less in the near future? Why is a supercharger so much more expensive for a Porsche than say a Corvette?

The way i see it:

N/A Mods for about 5k gets you approx 30ish RWHP??? (give or take a few...)

S/C for about 10-12k gets you approx 100+RWHP??? (give or take a few...)

So the HP/$$$ ratio is higher with the SC but the amount invested is obvioulsy a good bit more. All depends on what you want. I personally LOVE the Supercharger idea but will never do that to mine as a i drive the CRAP out of it an wouldnt want to hassle with the SC on a daily basis - so a few N/A mods for a lil gain and sound is fine w me

The R&D and aftersales support are far more expensive for a Porsche supercharger system than for a Domestic vehicle. The unit sales are also smaller for a car with a smaller OEM production run.

Buy a turbo, and get way more hp with your extra money, that should be the only option.

Buy a 996TT or 997TT. There is no comparison, why? No one here is telling you that you'll still want to get better exhaust flow once the SC is bolted on. Are you really going to have a stock system constraining the SC? No way you are.

A TT will be better and probably cheaper in the long run.

996tt, there is an option, though I had the front drive taken off both of mine, then moded them. Sorry but awd is for SUV's not sports cars.

Agree 100%. Also, the linear, immediate power delivery, clutch feel, and weight penalty of a tt vs sc'd 911 helped me decide on going sc. Even with the upgraded exhaust $$, the sc'd 997 is a performance "bargain" (relative only to an equivalent series Porsche tt). If you just want power, a 996tt is the unquestionable value these days.

What hassle would an SC be if driving the "crap" out your car on a daily basis?

While I agree with your premise, some dealers (and backed by corporate) will look at the S/C and say,"Whoa, this isn't stock. I'm not touching it. Good day."

I'm sure we all know the MA Act. But then there is reality.

believe my that my car,in a rolling race with gt3 rs mk2 has faster.
In this case i could be faster than 997tt but with a friend with 997tt APR i ate his dust.
Smoke and Mirrors, or perhaps there software is limited due to the amount of fuel the injectors can supply.

Agreed. Traction sucks, no matter how it is applied.

I agree with c2mojo.
For the money, why not just move to a 997TT or GT3?

As you can see the RWHP is 372,so the FWHP is 450.
I also just noticed that you do not have VF's kit? but not sure! and putting your question in every supercharger thread will not yield you any more news!
But my $.02....(if you do not have a VF charger)...could be the tuning within the ECU......

Also....
The dyno may not have a problem.....no two dynos will read the same number.....too many variables exist! Some dynos read BIG numbers so that people keep coming back and yet others are called "Ego' busters because they read reality......I did three dynos in a two day period a very long time ago and there was 60 RWHP difference between the high and low!

something for you to read...

http://www.caranddriver.com/features...-lying-feature

My favourite line By Dinan(BMW tuner) on page 2..."Basically, what horsepower would you like? I can give you anything from 330 to 420 with the same car," Dinan says.

No, the issue could be with the manufacturers claims.

As justatoy quoted "what HP do you want?" dyno'd can be made to show any results.

How are you figuring out your corrected HP?
