Toyo

Toyo Proxes 4, sounds like just what you need, all season sport tire and priced right, great reviews.... I have and very happy.

I apparently have a rare odd size that no one can replace very easily with very few options (don't know why) but every tire store I call says they don't carry these sizes:

F- 235/35-19's
R - 295/30/19's

Can I put any other size than the ones that are on there now?

Also Bridgestones make the RE050A's and RE960AS Pole Positions. Are these good tires? Anyone have exprerience with them? Which one of the two is better?

Thanks,
Jon

I would recommend Bridgestones also
The PZero is the scariest tire I have had (next to Toyo Proxies 4, those tires would be dangerous on the 997), if the PS2's are worse then I am going to try the Yokohama Advan Sports.

scuzy is infamous around these parts
my current tire size is

Front: 235/35-19
Rear: 315/25-19

but tirerack only lists 3 sets of tires to choose from PS2, Yokohama advan sport, and contis. Is there any other tires that you guys recommend?

I had them on my 01 S4 and they may be good in snow, but they had no grip at all in the dry. I was driving (normal city driving) and the back end started coming loose around a simple bend. A Toyota 4 runner seemed to handle the curve at the same speed and looked fine. Scary tires would never buy the Proxies 4 again.

Why are you running a 315/25/19 in the rear? I could see a 305 or 295 but what does a 315 do? Try the other two sizes and you will get more choices.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I researched these tires to death and found tons and tons of positive feedback.... a few nay sayers here and there but overall one of the highest rated tires based on consumer feedback for the cost. One person came from a pure sport ultra high perf tire to these and then said they felt slick..... but these are all season high perf a big difference. (his were not all season, and was in an STI, which is AWD like your S4....) I am having good luck, like them but then again this is my first 997 and have no other real tire to compare then to on 997.... my s2000 I like the s02's, I tried yoko es100 and they were terrible.... did some Kuhmo and they were excellant as well.

It did not come new that way did it? 295 and 305 are the stock rear sizes with 235 up front. the car already understears and with a wider rear it will understear even more.

My brother has the ES100's on his 430CLK, I agree that they are not good tires either. I hear good things about the Kumho, but the name makes me laugh! I have not tried any of the new Bridgestone tires, but my past experience has been good, and a few guys in the PCA here have them and like them.

the previous owner put 315's on it. I think OEM is 295 and 305. I am leaning on 305 since it gives the wider look.

You should go to back to original sizes, a lot more options. C2S came with 295/30/19, C4S came with 305/30/19. A lot of C2S drivers have switched to the 305's

Use OEM sizes for sure... Toyo 888's for the track and CSC's for the street...

If my car has 295's on the back now, can I replace them with 305?

Jon
