In terms of "looser", the modern 911 chassis has so much grip developed and engineered into it over the years of perfecting it, you can forget that word.
Unless of course you are trying to lose control on purpose and do something really crazy.
Based on my Cayenne I can see what you mean. While learning what it could do, I drove the car in the mountains above Malibu with some spirited driving...frankly a lot faster and more aggressive than I felt comfortable at times. I literally couldn't get the car lose in the corners, not even to get any noise from the 20" Michlins and finally gave up. That's quite a bit different from the Porches I remembered from the 70's which were exciting, but could break lose if you pushed it. Originally Posted by '08C4S

I'm not keen about asking for test drives from dealers, unless I've got the check book warming up in the bullpen. Perhaps it's my long experience in sales that makes me reluctant to use anyone else's time for research I'm normally used to doing on my own. However I don't think my experience from 911's way back, or a 5,000 pound V-8 SUV today is very relevant.
Thanks again for your input...it's impressive and very much appreciated that you would take your time to personally research the question with your own vehicle.

Thanks for all the compliments guys but the credit should go to my salesperson. He is a great guy to deal with, used to race Porsches and knows them inside out and has great taste to boot. No, I didn't get my car from Holbert, they happened to put their license cover on my car when I took it in for inspection since I bought the car from out of state.
