believe me nobody was more astonished at how he didnt get away from me. I appreciate the comments by everyone, I think the last comment by BLUE997 is very interesting. For the record it was a brand new z06 and mine is an 08 S with only a RSS pleunum and bmc filter (not implying any horsepower gains at all, and please can we not start discussing the plenum again). Other than that the only advantage i had was that he looked much bigger than me and he had a big dude in the pass seat. I had a walmart trunk full of groceries and two weekend bags, myself 180lbs, my gf 110lbs and a lead foot!

 

Good analysis - supports the theme of what I said - good drivers are fast, fast cars need fast drivers to go fast.

 

Most people can't tell the difference between a Z06 and a coupe. There is no way a 997 will come close to staying with a Z06. Modded or otherwise.

 

LOL C6 Z06 huh... No chance... 997S against just a regular C6 is another story though

 

--- I am a car nut like most on here and can easily tell the diff, but just to make it crystal clear we were doing like 40 side by side and i asked what gear he was in etc, and verified that it was a zo6.

 

maybe Porsche accidentally put in a GT3 or turbo engine into your C2S.....

Had a few C6 Z06's at the tracck today. I lined up right behind one...a guy I know from our track days. He war running Stop Tech brakes and rotors, lowered suspension, open exhaust, 6 point harness with a race seat.

My 997S is stock excpet Toyo RA1 tires and Pagid Yellow pads.

On the warm up lap I stayed right with him and they threw the green on the back staright and he was freakin GONE! That car walked...wait....ran away like nothing. Sad thing is with all his upgrades he still has less in the car than my stock 997S.

 

Sorry to say - but if he started in 3rd he would of walked away from you. If he started in 2nd - he would have ran away from you. Starting in 4th gear at 60 in a Z06 in not racing - it is playing. If I raced you from 60-120 I would not even shift into 4th.

 

Ahhh, don't worry about it, your car looks better, has a much more attractive interior, and will retain it's value much better. You chose porsche for a reason
