As far as I can understand, the alarm is active, it just bypasses those particular areas. So the glove box is no longer monitored or if you left the trunk open, it will not trip the alarm if someone opens it since it was bypassed.

Can you clarify? Are you referring to the center console? I am not sure what the rear console accessory bin cover is... That would be cool if there was another option to check out.

Thanks

I'm referring to what the rest of us would call center console - PAG calls it rear console. The accessory bin cover sits between the 2 seats, as in this Suncoast pic:

It is easier to keep it slightly open than messing around with glove box bulbs.

I agree, I didn't know that this bin is actually alarmed. So if you leave it open the alarm will actually sound? Are you sure, since it is not listed in the manual...

"A short signal from the alarm horn will draw
your attention to the fact that the following
components are not completely closed when you
try to lock the vehicle:
– Passenger’s door
– Luggage compartment lid
– Engine compartment lid
– Glass rear hatch (Targa)
– Glove compartment"

You may be right. It may not be alarmed in the 997 I did not check. I remember it was in the 996.

+1 for RemoteKey - also fixes the passenger window to go up without having to hold it to half-way. Most other features for 997.2 are redundant. Install is not so bad (the provided wiring is not so optimal, but works) - there was a group buy a while back and 30 or so of us did it.
