The guy screwed up and overboosted his engine. Has nothing to do with proper tuning and engine failure.

This IS NOT a common thing and was on a 996TT and THIS problem is linked to the EBC......
I really do not think this is a great post on information on the latest FI kits being produced and offered to the 996 and 997 community!
I also would suggest that anyone interested do a search for TPC and VF superchargers from the past....and see how many of those had engine problems............(if my memory serves me correctly,ONE,and due to bad installation) and I believe there were 100's of kits sold!
Anyway here is the thread the the OP is talking about....
Read here.....(post #27 and #28 seem to say it all)
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...e-carnage.html
and post #32..
The engine failure happened because due to something with the SETUP of the boost controller's vacuum lines it did not allow the wastegates to bleed off. A 24/18g with 1 bar wastegates should open up at .9Bar or so with the EBC off. If the vacuum lines are not properly hooked up though the wastegates will never be told when to open, therefor holding them closed... which leads to massive destruction.

P.S. A PROPER INSTALL IS CRUCIAL TO THINGS WORKING PROPERLY(I know that is OBVIOUS BUT)!

'I feel that the EBC caused the engine failure... if not directly... then indirectly by the removal of the built in safety feature of the factory solenoid. I would NEVER again install one on anything thing I owned as it was costly mistake... just my 2 pennies/16K'
Still, thanks for the link, it was quite interesting to read.
