C2S wheels on C4S with PCCB : Fitting question

Hello all,

I have just bought a set of original Carrera S wheels for the track, to mount on my C4S, Pilot Sport Cups.

I guess that I will need 17 mm spacers on the rear, but having thought about it after I bought the rims (I know, I should have thought BEFORE the purchase... But they were so cheap !), I'm having headaches about the following things :

- How much do the spacers weight ? As it is unsprug mass, it should be best to keep it as light as possible, or is this just in my mind ?

- Assuming that there will only be a 1 mm offset difference with the spacers, there should be no problem. Am I correct ? Do you think that this setup (C2S wheels + 17 mm spacers on the rear + Pilot Sport Cup and maybe later slicks) makes sense in terms of car wear, safety, performance ?

- About spacers & PCCB : In the purpose of not damaging the PCCB when unmounting/mounting a wheel, Porsche provide a set of, let's call them "things that come in place of lug bolts" to guide the wheels to the hub, without touching the rotor. As far as I have searched, it is impossible to mount them when the spacers are on the hub, as they are secured by nuts, not bolts. Does anyone have solved this problem ?

I hope that my English will be barely understandable. Thanks in advance for your help.

Cedric, newbie at the track

I thought it was 15mm spacers, not 17mm?

I have 15mm on the rear of my C2S, I don't have PCCB but I can tell you that the H&R spacers come with a set of screws to attach the spacer to the rotor. You can also buy the "wheel mounting guide" from any Porsche Dealer, they are about $10 each and make life very easy when mounting wheels. I use two, but some people only use one. The spacer doesn't effect this mounting guide.

If you uses spacers make sure you buy longer bolts, the stock ones are too short.

The Carrera Sport wheels are used on both the narrow and wide body cars. My Targa 4S has them, and Porsche adds spacers on the rear wheels to compensate for the wide bodies. I measured them to be about 15 mm. The Carrera Sport wheels have recesses next to the lug bolt holes to accommodate the bolts that they use to hold the spacers with. See photos.

As you'll see, the spacers used by Porsche provide the lug bolts that help in positioning the wheels.

True...but he was asking about the Carrera S wheels. BTW, the Porsche spacers for the rear are 17mm.

Oops. Most folks refer to them as lobsters, so I assumed Carrera S was short for Sport. My measurement of the spacers sure looked like 15 mm to me, but I'll take your word for them being 17.

These spacers are different then the H&R spacers, I think that the longer bolts that the H&R uses is a better system, easier to swap the spacers out if changing wheels.

I agree - with the Porsche 17mm spacer you have to use lug nuts to attach the wheel but with the 15mm spacers from H&R, FVD and others you attach the wheel with lug bolts like the front.

I agree too. I thought the Porsche system seemed a little weird.

Hi all,

Many thanks for your answers. I have bought the wheels and will soon be able to tell if this fitment is okay. I, unfortunately, broke a cat (OEM one) last week while being in Le Mans and my car is now 900 km away from me... I'm waiting for it to come back to address the "PCCB rotors dead at 28 000 km" issue with Porsche...

Tell me about Porsche reliability... (No lemon law in France. I sure regret it...)

Cedric
