Chrome Exhaust Tips- 997S?

I have the standard exhaust tips on my '05 S Cab- I think it would look much better highly polished or chromed, besides spending the $55O to buy the identical tip I have in chrome from Porsche, is there a better, less expensive option? Or even a more expensive but much better looking option?

Maybe a tip that is a tad more aggressive?

The standard 997 S Tip - connects at the pipe as a "single" the shows as a dual pipe....

Thank you in advance....

I bought a pair of used OEM tips in near mint condition on ebay for $150. There are a couple of auctions right now on ebay for the OEM chrome tips:

I don't believe these are 'chrome' tips but rather stock 'S' brushed stainless steel except for the listing for the turbo tips. The only OEM chrome tips (for the 997 non turbo) if I recall, are the PSE tips and they won't fit on the standard (S or non-S) muffler.

Hey SD,

I have the full Fabspeed exhaust kit on my car which includes their tips. While not chrome they are very nicely polished and a bit bigger. They are a site sponsor so tell them you heard from them here and they'll give you a bit of a deal.

But....if you're going to change tips you might as well change the mufflers as well while you're at it! It will add the sound to the tips' looks

http://www.fabspeed.com/997_997S_997GT3.html The tips are $450 which is pricy but they are nice.

Thanks Cleanme- those tips look nice- how nuch of the "muffler" system do you suggest I swap out- they have several choices- the minimum swap is what I am looking for- I like the sound of the stock S- a little more "aggressive" sound would be nice- but not too much...

Thanks-

I know they do offer OEM Chrome Tips for the S- because it is an "option" from Porsche- you can buy them from the dealer as well- $550

I will check the ones on the eBay listing and make sure.

Thanks-

I suppose the biggest sound change would come from the mufflers so adding mufflers&tips seem like a perfect combo!

The mufflers are also substantially lighter than stock so you save some crucial weight at a very crucial spot. I was very pleased with the quality of both mufflers&tips, very nice coating on them. So maybe you can get a package deal. I'll see if I can find a few pictures of mine.

I have a set of chromed tips for a 997S. Will let them go for $250. They are exactly same shape as the stainless tips, but chrome. They are made in Germany. PM me if you wish to see photos.

Here is the deal- Fabspeed will do Mufflers and Tips for the 997S for $1,175 they will do the CATS for another $1,325 - I am thinking about the mufflers and the tips- need to keep this beast relatively tame-but mufflers/tips may be the best way to go- Of course I need to get them installed- if anyone knows a reputable- not crazy expensive place in SoCal- preferably OC- let me know-

Thanks!

If you're not a 'wrench' then I'd jump on KeninIrvine's tips. Well not literally.

You just have to loosen a bolt to slide them on/off. Very simple non-mechanical job. Spraying a little WD40 helps if your's have been on awhile.

I am not sure who you spoke to here at Fabspeed but I can assure you that we are not giving the exhaust and tips for $1,175.00. I am curious to know who you spoke to here, because we do not offer big discounts like this and undercut our dealers please give me a call to clear the air.
