I have the Quaife. Its a well made piece that works very well. Its not something that I'm even conscious of when I'm driving now, except that I'm quicker out of corners, and all of a sudden I'm now a beast on the track when its raining.

One of the best mods you can do IMO. Great to hear that its going to be an option in 09.

quaife have a huge motorsport pedigree and do alot of straight cut gearboxes and gear cogs for alot of race teams. ive not used their porsche app LSDs but other products ive used have been well made and great quality and always a step up from what the manufacturer had specified as OEM.

im seriously thinking of getting their LSD for my 996 as my next mod

But can we get something from porsche..
I understand that the euro verson offered sport suspension for the 997s's whihc also included an LSD. Is there any way to purchase the LSD made from porsche and fit it into out cars?

Dave and others,

Can someone give me a brief explanation of the advantage of the LSD as an option on the 09 models. Here are some questions:

1. What is the advantage and will I feel/use this advantage in everyday driving or do I have to be a track junkie to appreciate it?
2. Is it worth the price. Before everyone says, of course you have to get it, realize the 30 page option book and that I can't get them all.
3. PASM Sports as an option. Once again is it worth it? 1 grand sounds steep to lower your car by .4" (over the Carrera S)

"Electronically variable active damping system with two manually selectable

modes and limited slip rear differential lock. Ride height lowered by 20 mm."

So does this mean I can choose between the 2 settings on PASM as before in the 08 models (sport and Non) and now choose between 2 additional modes? Confusing..... And why does it mention the diff lock in the PASM sports option code?

Thanks for your answers. I just trying to decide if once again the 2 grand in these 2 options are really worth it and if I will use the benefit. If not, I'll spend it elsewhere.

Thanks,

K now I am confused. I ordered a 2009 facelift with the option P17 (PASM sports chassis (-20) mm with limited slip differential lock. Is this the option that people are saying to get?

I did not see LSD as an available option, this was the only option closest to it.

Mass I will try to answer these best I can..

1. What is the advantage and will I feel/use this advantage in everyday driving or do I have to be a track junkie to appreciate it?

Probably would be a track junkie mod, however on hard launches the LSD will help as you can leave harder without the axle hop.

2. Is it worth the price. Before everyone says, of course you have to get it, realize the 30 page option book and that I can't get them all.

I think so..I would forego other options to get it.

3. PASM Sports as an option. Once again is it worth it? 1 grand sounds steep to lower your car by .4" (over the Carrera S)

Sounds like a bargain to me...considering Porsche.

To be clear:

P17 does NOT include the the read diff lock. That is a separate option code 220. Which is why I asked why does the description for P17 PASM Sports include the words diff lock in it?
