Great news! New Touchscreen PCM is Retro-fittable!!
My local Porsche Service manager mentioned that the new PCM will be available in September! The bad news is that it will be very expensive: about $100,000!!!!
The good news is that it comes with a brand new facelifted Carrera S for free!!!
Happy friday folks!

p.s. In all seriousness, I'm having my local Porsche Service Manager look into this, but that was his initial response to me. He mentioned that he is very doubtful that it will be that easy to retrofit, but he'll be able to tell me once he gets the shop manual.

wassup charles
not sure about euro sunday as of yet..from what i understand, if you have a 997 with a NAV style screen but no NAV dvd drive.. you most likely have PCM somewhere in the car. if you add the NAV DVD drive, GPS antenna and MOST cable.. then your able to add NAV options to your 997. the Cayman's dont have PCM in the car. so they build a special NAV style head unit which has internal PCM. now cayman owners can simply buy a stand alone NAV headunit which has internal PCM, DVD drive, GPS antenna and MOS cable and then there set. okay.. so here's the tricky part. if you purchased a GT3, it DOES not come with PCM nor the NAV style head unit. but you can configure the car with the NAV style head unit and external PCM for the GT3. guys like me.. who dont have internal PCM.. cant simply upgrade to the NAV style head unit and DVD nav drive because.. we have no internal PCM. but.. i can upgrade to the internal PCM NAV head unit which is identical to the caymans.

this one requires your car to have internal PCM:

this is for cars without PCM, but it has built in internal PCM:

Alright man. I confused myself, so thanks for clearing it up. Basically: Cars that come with PCM, but opted to NOT have Nav, can buy the Nav module (this is actually what I ended up doing).
Otherwise, you need to buy the set of PCM+Nav module kit. Damn that Porsche! They always find a way to squeeze a buck out of us!
I was reading about the new Carrera facelift options: Bluetooth, Universal Audio Adapter, etc. It looks as if they are going to screw us, pricewise, on this too. The other thread mentioned that for both Bluetooth and iPod it will equal +1200 bucks! This is on top of PCM Nav touchscreen (it didn't mention if this was standard).
That's it! I'm buying a Nissan GTR and Lexus ISF!!!
Just kidding
By the way... another interesting fact: 09 Turbo's have Bluetooth and Universal Audio adapters on the spec sheet. PDK is not. And there is no mention of the Turbo getting the updates of LED tails and updated headlights. If they release a 997TT mk1 with Touchscreen PCM Nav, then I think we have a chance of a retro-fit. We just have to wait and see.
