48 Hours

Vid of one turn in the Tail...sorry for resolution...it was w/ my camera (going slow b/c cop was radaring him): http://youtube.com/watch?v=iY9G_MvGY_E

This is a quick yet detailed account of the past 48 hours of my life which turned out to be the best hours regarding motor sports and adventure to date. Amazing Weather, Amazing Roads, Amazing Cars, Amazing Friends....Does Life Get Any Better??....I submit that it does not

Background, many of you may know Jon Wright aka PearlCoupeG35 on here...he has a 997 C2S Guards Red w/ Fabspeed bypass pipes, well he was on a charity cannonball run from Philly to Miami from last Thursday to Sunday, and he had a co-driver...onto my part

I get a call from Jon at 5:30 on Monday saying his co-driver had to catch a flight home for an emergency and that I should catch a plane to Atlanta and meet him on his trip back north and we will drive the Tail of the Dragon the next day.....so I say Ok...3 hours later I'm boarding a plane in Philly to Atlanta

Jon grabs me at 2am and we head to Asheville, get to Asheville at 5:45am sleep till 10, leave by 11 and get to the Tail of the Dragon at 1ish after hitting some AMAZING roads and HellBender28 we rock through the Tail down and back and then head back to Asheville for the night.

Get in the car at 9am this morning and drive back to Philly, arrive home 7ish! Well over a 1000 miles covered by the 2 of us in 48hrs while hitting the ultimate road in North America

Now some pics and vid

On the way to the Dragon...some scenic overlook in Western NC

Getting there

There!

At a little turn around on the Dragon:

This cop was the coolest guy ever...he's radaring people coming through the turns (not pulling anyone over) and he clocks Jon at 14 as he's pulling into that spot and the cop says to Jon "14 are you kidding me, I'm about to ticket you for obstruction of traffic" ...such a great guy

Just a few more random shots....I'm sure Jon will have LOTS of pics to add, I think from his 7 day trip he had over a 1000 I only had about 50 from my 48 hours.

The Dodge R&D team had pre-production 09 models at the Tail for testing, the VIN's on the Vipers were 3,4, and 5

Shot from the bridge at the end of the Tail

not overheating but just to cool it down, the oil temp was high, why not let it cool if we are just going to be standing around for a few mins..

They were one of the sponsors of the cannonball run so everyone had to put them on the car, most of the other decals had already come off

You will need one whole day for the tail Steve....trust me.

Sickest experience i have EVER had behind the wheel of a car....that includes tracks, autox, 1/4 runs, street races, etc.....NOTHING compares to SHREDDING my 997 on the Dragon. Nothing.

More pics/info posted from me once i clear off my desk here at the office
